The Guild met at St. Patrick's
Parish hall for a meeting and
quilting Wednesday evening. Mrs.
Hugh Davis assisted by Mrs.
Harry Carroll led in the devo-
tional period,
Plans were made for an all-
day quilting and also to pack
the bale.

Miss Nancy Robb, Ilderton,
was Tuesday night guest with
Miss Joan Barker.
Mr. and Mrs. Al Shannon, Lon-
don, spent Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. Bill Johnson.
Miss Heather Davis was guest
of Miss Nancy Hardy, Lucan,
Friday evening. Heather was sur-
prised when her friends remem-
bered her birthday with a cake
and trimmings and Sunday even-
ing Heather, her parents, Mr.
and Mrs. Hugh Davis and Mich-
ael were guests with Mr. and
Mrs. Heber Davis.
Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dickins
attended the party and pres-
entation Friday evening for Mr.
Edgar McFalls, Lucan, their re-
tiring mail man.
Miss Sharon Davis is attending
a hair stylist convention in Tor-
onto.
Mr. and Mrs. Frank Squire
and Mr. Ron Squire, Granton,
were Sunday evening guests
with Mr. and Mrs. Jack Dickens.
Michael Davis spent Saturday
with his cousin, David Latta,
Lucan. and Robert Van Dorsselaer.
The body rested at the T. Harry
Hoffman funeral home until Sun-
day noon then at Zion Lutheran
Church where the service was
held with Rev. E, E. Steinman
in charge. Interment was made
in Zion Lutheran Cemetery.

bull, Ed Hendrick, Ed Lamport,
Ted Steinback, Leonard Erb, J.
Scotchmer. Flower bearers, Jack
Consitt, Ezra Webb and Reinhold
Miller.

DASHWOOD
William H. Haugh, 70, passed
away at St. Joseph's Hospital,
London, Thursday, November 2,
after a lengthy illness.
He was a member of Zion
Lutheran Church, Dashwood. He
was a former Hay Township coun-
cillor and reeve. He was con-
nected with Hay Fire Insurance
Co. for 30 years. He farmed in
Hay Township until ten years
ago when he retired to Dashwood
but still kept his office with the
Fire Insurance. He also served
on the Hay Township School Area
board.
Surviving besides his wife, the
former Hilda Schumacher, are
two daughters, (Shirley) Mrs.
Ray Van Dorsselaer, Dashwood,
(Arvis) Mrs. Elmer Rader, Strat-
ford, one sister, Mrs. Edna
Schmidt of New Dundee, also
five grandchildren, Philip, Doug-
las, James and Dianne Rader
ANNIVERSARY
The Martine-Cook relatives of
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Martine
treated them to a turkey dinner
at the Dashwood Community
Centre on the occasion of their
25th wedding anniversary. Some
sixty relatives and friends were
present from Chesley, Port Col-
borne, Lond9n, Exeter, Sarnia,
Chatham, Crediton and Dash-
wood.

Thanksgiving was the theme
of the November meeting of the
Women's Missionary Society.
The president, Mrs. M. Lamond
presided and opened with a suit-
able poem. Routine reports were
read by the secretary and the
treasurer,
program was held including a
mock wedding. Bunco rounded
out the evening.

in South Huron Hospital, Exeter.
Mervyn Willert and son of Tor-
onto and Mrs. John Pattison of
Wingham visited their father over
the weekend.
Mr. and Mrs. Norman Klein
and family of Mildmay spent
Sunday with Mr. and Mrs. Carl
Oestricher and family.
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Miller and
girls of Zion were visitors with
Mr. and Mrs. Irvin Rader and
family, Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Siegfried Miller
and family of Port Dover visited
with Mrs. Martha Miller on Sun-
day and Mr. and Mrs. Ken Clark
and Wayne of Dresden visited
Monday with her.
Mr. Ray Van Dorsselaer at-
tended the recent bird show at
London. lie entered five birds
and won five first ribbons. One
bird won a special prizeāgro-
ceries donated by Loblaws. Tick-
ets were sold for the show and
E. Hawkins of Windsor was win-
ner of the 50-50 draw, a total
of $73.
Mrs. Merrill James, Mrs.
Ross Guenther, Mrs. HarryHoff-
man and Mrs. Mervyn Tiernan
attended the 4,Faith at Work Con-
ference" at the Sheraton-Corn-
naught Hotel in Hamilton during
the weekend. There were 1,500
in attendance at the interdenom-
inational event. Rev. Gordon
Hunter of Toronto was made
full-time director.
Mrs. Cora Gaiser spent the
weekend with Rev. and Mrs.
Bruce Seeback and family of
Hamilton.

study book and also gave a brief
report of the Presbyterial execu-
tive meeting. Mrs. Lamond re-
ported on the sectional meeting
held at Atwood.
Prayer for missionaries was
led by Mrs. Mervin Dow. Miss
Olive Speare gave a reading "As
You Go Through Life". A trio
consisting of Mrs. Cliff Miller,
Mrs. Chas Douglas and Mrs.
Gerald Carey favored with a
number.
Mrs. Paddington of Stratford
was the guest speaker, using
"Prayer" as the theme of her
address. As literature secretary
she had a large assortment of
books on display.
Lunch was served with Mrs.
T. Laing and Mrs. J. R. Jef-
ferson as conveners.

Staffa Women's Institute spon-
sored a Halloween dance in the
township hall on Wednesday even-
ing, November 1.
Quite a number arrived in cos-
tume to add to the fun and Mr.
and Mrs. Alex Meikle, Exeter,
were awarded prizes for the best
dressed couple.
Carl Hohner's orchestra pro-
vided the music for dancing.

Elimville United Church Saturday
and the reception which followed
