en's Institute. She demonstrated
the use of apples in the prepar-
ation of various recipes. After
the completion of the business,
the food she had prepared was
served to the members.
Roll call was answered by
housekeeping hints. Mrs. Aaron
Wein discussed the motto "your
house can be too clean. Let your
house be clean enough to be
healthy, and dirty enough to be
happy." Mrs. Irvin Finkbeiner
presented a paper on current
events, home economics and
health. Mary Hodgins contributed
a piano solo.
It was decided to hold a ban-
quet for senior citizens. Mrs,
Harvey Hodgins and Mrs. Walter
Weber were appointed delegates
to the area convention
The rest of the evening was
given over to discussion of plans
for the Hobby Fair scheduled for
October 25. People are encourag-
ed to submit for display paint-
ings, needlework, mats, hats,
dolls, antiques, novelties, croch-
eting, tatting, knitting, jewellery,
coin and stamp collections, photo
albums, quilts,. It is planned to
have someone painting, another
quilting, and another making a
mat; to set up an old-fashioned
kitchen and a display of old-
fashioned clothing.

ton, Mrs. R. Finkbeiner, Mrs,
A. Wein and Mrs. R. Hodgins,

tion for the Evangelical UB
Church in Ontario was held at
Wallace during the weekend.

CHURCHES WILL UNITE
The concluding adjourned ses-
sion of the Canada Conference
of the Evangelical United Breth-
ren Church was held in Waterloo
October 10 12 with Rev. M. J.
James and Donald Geiser attend-
ing from Dashwood.
January 1, 1968 all Evangelical
United Brethren Churches in On-
tario will be a part of the United
Church in Canada.
The Dashwood Church will be a
part of the Huron Presbytery and
of the London Conference.

Wm (Banker) Gossman, known
to hundreds as Santa near and
far passed away at South Huron
Hospital, Exeter, Wednesday,
October 11 in his '77th year.
Surviving besides his wife, the
former Mabel Geiger, are five
daughters, (Dolores) Mrs. James
Cornford, London; (Jean) Mrs.
Herman Fleming, Kitchener;
Clara Ann, London; (Martha)
Mrs. Noel McLaren, Edmonton;
(Shirley) Mrs. Victor Watson,
Komoka; five sons, Garnet, Wind-
sor; Leonard, London; Sherwood,
Kenneth and Harry, all of Kit-
chener; two sisters, Mrs. Eliz-
abeth Hilger, Port Huron; Mrs.
Anna Westlake, Wyoming; two
brothers, Joseph of Port Huron;
George of Dashwood, also 20
grandchildren and two great
grandchildren.
The service was held from
the T. Harry Hoffman funeral
home Saturday, October 14 with
Rev. Merrill James in charge.
Interment was made inDashwood
EUB Cemetery.
Pallbearers were Louis Wei-
gand, Syd Baker, Carl Oestrei-
cher, Ervin Eckstein, Harry Hay-
ter and Andy Anderson.

The October meeting of the
WSWS of the Evangelical UB
Church was held with the Spir-
itual Life Committee in charge

Thanksgiving is Thanksliving".

Night for the Crediton Cub Pack.
To entertain their parents the
cubs presented skits showing
good deeds done.
Saturday morning the cubs en-
joyed a hike through the woodlot

attended the final session of the
HUB Canada Conference at Em-
manuel Church, Waterloo. Busi-
ness was completed for the few
weeks remaining before merger
with the United Church on Jan-
uary 1. Miss Jean Kellerman
spoke at one meeting. Mrs. John-
son, formerly Julia Haugh, was
present as delegate from Winni-
peg and made enquiry concern-
ing friends at Crediton.

Sam King conducted the worship

Mrs. Cliff Kenney conducted
the business session. The Sup-
ply Committee reported that a
bale of 139 pounds of used cloth-
ing had been sent for overseas
relief. Mrs. Earl Neil gave a
report of the Workshop held at
Hensall, October 2.
