After the service everyone was
invited to the Missing Piece Cof-
fee House for coffee and fellow-
ship. The food was blessed by
Rev. Wilfred Schlegel of the Men-
nonite Church in Nairn. Gerald
Gingerich of Zurich introduced
the Board of Directors and ex-
plained the purpose of the Cof-
fee House.
The property for the Missing
Piece Coffee House was purchas-
ed last spring by a group of
Mennonite business men and past-
ors and operates under the chart-
er of the Ausable Springs Ranch
Inc. The sign outside says "The
Missing Piece." Inside it reads
"The Missing Peace,"
"In the true spirit of ecu-
menical Christianity we must
join together against the com-
mon enemy, the twentieth century
Philistines, to defend and pre-
serve our heritage."
So spoke Rev. Edgar Roulston
to a gathering of over 100 friends
who attended the fourth ecumeni-
cal Thanksgiving Day service at
the Mary Ellen Chapel at Grand
Bend. Guests came from London.
Toronto, Stratford. Parkhill,
Zurich, Nairn, H ens all and
Crediton.
uIsaac digged wells again after
the Philistines filled them in,"
Mr. Roulston said. "So must we
preserve the wells of living water
in our day." He said that there
is nothing new in the new moral-
ity, that every generation has
faced the same temptations. In-
stead "we need to close in our
ranks in defence of our heritage."
"God is dead" was proclaimed
centuries ago, but the answer
was also recorded, "The fool
hath said in his heart there is
no God." He emphasized that the
Bible should be interpreted in
the same Spirit which inspired
the men who wrote it.
Leader of the service was
Frank Hallett of London and
Grand Bend, lay reader in the
Anglican Church, and sponsor of
the "Living Dialogues" inter-
church discussions in the Dio-
cese of Huron.
The Alfred Ropp family quar-
tette from the Mennonite Church
in Nairn sang with guitar ac-
companiment.
Dr. Judith Brigham, Protest-
ant Episcopal Church, Louis-
ville, Kentucky, assisted by Judy
DeJong from Mary Immaculate
Roman Catholic Church, Grand
Bend, read the New Testament
lesson and thanked Mr. Eisen-
bach and the Mary Ellen Chapel
for giving concreteness to the
vision of the Church as the Bride
and Body of Christ in the world.
Assisting in the service were
Rev. G. E. Morrow, United
Church, Grand Bend, who gave
the Invocation; T. Harry Hoffman
of the Evangelical United Breth-
ren Church, Dashwood, who read
the litany; Edgar Cudmore from
the Pentecostal Church, Exeter.

The evening unit of Grand Bend
UCW met last Tuesday evening
with Mrs. Agnes Smith and Mrs.
G. E. Morrow conducting the
opening worship. Mrs. Wm Bren-
ner and Mrs. Gerald Kading sang
a duet,
Mr. and Mrs. Edgar Cudmore
were introduced by the leader,
Mrs. Robert Keyes. They spoke
on the work of the Gideons.
Mrs. Keyes presided for the
business. Members were re-
minded of the Regional at Green-
way Oct. 24.
Two invitations were read, one
to attend a bazaar and tea at
Grace Church, Greenway, Oc-
tober 18 at 9 pm and the other
a church bazaar and tea at
Crediton Community hall Nov. 4
at 2:30 pm.
An "Eat in Day" at the church
was discussed and a recommen-
dation to be taken to afternoon
unit for approval.
Lunch was served by Mrs.
Robert Jennison and Mrs. Allan
Parker.
MARK 40th ANNIVERSARY
Mr. and Mrs. Colin Love were
entertained on their fortieth wed-
ding anniversary at a dinner at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ed
Gill Saturday evening, October'?.
