were giving up too soon on some
students—especially boys, who
often don't mature as quickly as
girls. In fact, he suggested we
should separate boys from girls
so the former don't have to com-
pete against girls in school
classes.
His opinions warrant careful
consideration by school officials,
especially now that SHDHS has
embarked upon the three-stream
system. Perhaps we are giving
up on some students too soon,
although unfortunately it is most
difficult to gear any system to
the minority rather than the aver-
age.
At the reunion, we spent some
time looking back over the 1952
Ink-Spot. Of particular interest
was the fact there were only 15
members on the teaching staff at
that time.
Judging from comments re-
ceived, many area residents saw
the editor in his TV debut at the
Zurich Bean Festival, Saturday.
Unfortunately the oc casion
prompted some uncomplimentary
comments.
One chap noted he now has
proof that yours truly is full of
beans.
The Zurich event was a "gas-
tronomical" success and resi-
dents of that community now
appear to have been successful
in getting this annual attraction
off the ground.
The success of most of these
events depends upon the first
two years, and Zurich should be
able to look forward to many
more successful bean festivals
in future years.
We also pass along commen-
dation for the fine showing of
the Zurich Centennial Band. This
group improves every time out
and must now rank as one of
the best in the area.
Every parade needs a band,
and we imagine the Zurich group
will be featured in many area
parades in the future.
