Jim Paisley, our Work Super- intendent, and his hard working crew set up all the detour signs and barricades and the picnic tables. Jim made all the arrange- ments with the Department of Transport to close Main Street to traffic. His enthusiasm couldn't help but rub off on some of the rest of us, The local Rodeo Committee served a most tasty chuck-wagon breakfast and had to stop serving their pancakes only because they ran out of time and plates to Dear Sir: I would like to take advantage of your column to thank on be- half of the Exeter Board of Trade, all those who helped to make possible the recent FUNDAY held in Exeter. It is impossible to mention all those who contributed to the day. The service clubs were respon- sible for the promotion and con- ducting of the Old Time Fiddlers' Contest and Square Dance Com- petition which were successfully held in the arena. Thanks, fellows, you did a real good job. To Bruce Cann and his young group as well as those specially invited in for the morning par- ades, we say "Thank You". Also to Lloyd Bern and his fife play- ers and drummers who led our afternoon parade, really added to the day by playing on MainStreet for the enjoyment of shoppers. The Exeter Legion pipers and Color Party made the perfect setting for the Centennial Flag Parade at night. We were most fortunate to obtain their services on very short notice and we are very grateful to them. When you consider that it takes about an hour for each member to dress for such an appearance, it took about 30 man hours to prepare the band for our parade. We know many of the players had to make a special effort to be in attend- ance. There was a fourth band whose identity remains unknown to me which added to the fun of the day, C,F.P.L, Radio Station were most kind and generous in sending their mobile radio van to Exeter for the day. A special word of thanks to Bill Brady, Dick Wil- liams, Scott Cameron of the "Lively Guys" from C.F.P,L. for the kind things they said about Exeter, All the judges, who judged the entries in the various con- tests and parades, made it pos- sible for winners to be chosen in these events. The boys and girls who brought their dolls, frogs, turtles, dogs, ponies and flags, each made their contrib- ution to a very happy and fun- filled day, The "Promenaders" under the expert direction of Earl Bowles delighted us with their square dancers demonstration through- out the evening on our streets. We did appreciate their part in our day. To all the visitors who came to Exeter on this occasion, for breakfast, for entertainment, for shopping, we hope you will have many more fun-filled days in our town.
