The annual decoration service
of Ebenezer cemetery was. held
Sunday afternoon. The service
was taken by Rev. D. S. Warren
of Main Street United Church,

Mrs. Norman Hodgins.

Exeter, Mr. and Mrs. Ropp and
two sons of Nairn supplied the
music.
The chairman of the cemetery
board is Wilbert Lewis and sec-
retary-treasurer since 1954,
Mrs. Fred Fenton with assistant,
Mrs. Melvin Allison.
The Ebenezer church had its
beginning when a group of people
on Con. 4 McGillivray began
meetings in the homes for wor-
ship. A colored minister, Rev.
Dorsey rode horseback from
London every two weeks to con-
duct services in the homes or
the schoolhouse on the Fenton
farm.
In 1860 a frame church was
built and the wife of Rev. J.
Clarke was the first person
buried in Ebenezer cemetery in
1862. A brick church was built
in 1881. In 1920 Ebenezer and
Marrs Hill church joined to form
Brinsley United Church.
Ebenezer cemetery was neg-
lected for many years but in
1954 renovations and a general
clean-up was made and the ceme-
tery is now well kept with flower
beds and clean markers.

Hospital Sunday.
Mr. Cecil Ellwood is a patient
since August 11 in St. Joseph's
Hospital. He is improving.
Brinsley UC Centennial ser-
vice will be held Sunday, August
27 at 11 am conducted by Rev.
Duncan McTavish, a former pas-
tor. Rev. John Davies will preach.
Sunday. September 3 at 12:15
pm, Rev. John Davies will preach
his farewell sermon at Brinsley
United Church.
The Precious Club comprised
of Tom Kestle, lead guitar, Wayne
Hodgins, protable organist, Mike
Bobor, drums, Larry Armstrong,

played Sunday at the Stork Club,
Port Stanley.
Mrs. Alvin Cunningham spent a
few days with her daughter and
family, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Man-
son. Mary and John of Simcoe
at their summer home at Embro.
Mr. and Mrs. Earl Paton,
London, and Mrs. Vivan Cooper,
Kippen, visited Mrs. J. H. Paton
Sunday and Monday Mrs. William
Harkness of Huntsville, who is
visiting her sister, Mrs. Frank
Lewis, RR 1 Lucan. was a guest.
