Mr. and Mrs. Ron Littleton and family enjoyed a week's vacation at Tobermory. Misses Lynda Workman and Debbie Anderson went by plane Wednesday of last week to Ottawa where they will visit Lynda's aunt, Mrs. R. Aldwinckle and visit Expo. Mr. and Mrs. Bell and family of Kippen are holidaying at Dur- and Cottage on Drysdale Beach. Beatrice and Bruce Thomson are having a few holidays with their grandparents, Mr. and Mrs. Sam Storey of RR 2, Seaforth. Mr. and Mrs. Alvin Riley and Dianne of Goderich, Mr. and Mrs. George King and Janice, Steven, of Sault St. Marie, Mr. and Mrs. Bill Wilbee and Joan of Sea- forth, Mrs. Jim Edwards, Sea- forth, spent Sunday at the homes of Mr. and Mrs. Doug McGregor, Mr. and Mrs. John McGregor very successful summer playground program for the youngsters of ilensall and district came to a close Thursday with a busy day of attractions. The six week schedule of actiV- ities sponsored by the Hensall Recreation committee and dir- ected by rec director Michael Miner was completed with a mammoth parade in the morning, followed by an afternoon penny Playground concludes with gala day NORMAN LONG and Mr. and Mrs. Alex McGregor at a family gathering. Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bonthron of Hensall visited Saturday with Mr. Robert Thomson. carnival and pet show and even- ing Parents Night, More than 100 costumed child- ren joined in the parade that wound through the village streets and ended at the arena for jud- ging handled by Barrie Jackson, chairman of Hensall's rec com- mittee and Ross Haugh of the T-A. Following are the costume winners: MOSt Original Costume- Brad- ley Baker, Robin Hood; Becki Baker, the Queen of Hearts; Kathy Neilands, Maid Marion. Best Fancy Dress-Bonnie Sangster, Ballerina; Ann Jackson, Gypsy; Tammy Turner, the Sun. Best Comic Outfit-Junior Neilands, Scarecrow; Brenda, Donald and John Noakes, Mother, son and baby; Tracy Turner, Penguin. Best Clown-Brian Baker, Jack- in-the-box; Gail Simmons, Polka dot Clown; Gordon Ward, an Oriental. Best Double Costume- Bradley and Vicky Mann, Indian Brave and Indian Squaw; Barbara and Nancy McCurdy, Red Riding Hoods; Cindy Bisback and Fiona Kennedy, Indian Squaw and Fairy Godmother. Best Decorated Bic- ycle-Lauri Flynn; Karen Volland; Bill Webster. The afternoon Penny Carnival drew approximately 200 children. The most successful booth was the Dart Throw run by Tony Kyle and Junior Neilands. Next on the agenda was a pet Show. The best overall entrant as well as the most beautifully decorated was Spanky the Spitz- Chihuahua combination entered by Gordon Ward, The most un- usual and smallest were Kevin Bisback's 4 white mice named Sam, Harry, Henry and Cal. The largest pet was a Black Labrador Retriever named Teddy entered by Robbie Noakes, The best groomed pet was Bonnie-Lass, a bulldog, who is owned by Beth Turvey. The evening program entitled Parents Night attracted 120 in- terested people who watched the children perform Indian Rain and Corn Dances; sing songs; and perform the play roThe Strange Tale of King Midas". The play was well received and adjudged well done. T-A photo parade Inspector weds school teacher A quiet twilight wedding was solemnized at the Hensall United Church Thursday, August 17, when Rev. Harold F. Currie united in marriage, Helen Louise McKenzie of Leaside, Toronto, only daughter of the late Mr. and Mrs. Ernest McKenzie of Belgrave to Sydney Geiger, of Gore Bay, son of the late Mr. and Mrs, Owen Geiger of Hen- sall. The bride looked lovely in a yellow shantung sheath with roll- ed collar, accessories In black and corsage of orchids. They were unattended. The bride was formerly on the teaching staff at Leaside, Tor- onto, and the groom was formerly Public School Inspector at Mani- toulin Island, but is now retired. Mr. and Mrs. Wm Brock and family of Montreal returned home Friday after visiting the past two weeks with the former's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Russell Brock. Miss Catharine Anne Christie spent this week with her aunt and uncle, Mr. and Mrs. W. T. Dodds, Seaforth. Miss Mattie Ellis who has been a patient in South Huron Hospital for the past two weeks was able to return to her home. Mr. and Mrs. Douglas Dailey and Steven of London were week- end visitors with Mrs. Dailey's parents, Mr. and Mrs. Harold parker and Patsy. Patsy return- ed to London with them for a holiday. Mrs. P earl Passmore returned kinds home after holidaying with her son-in-law and daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Felix Boogemans in Burlington. Mr. Keith Lindsay of Hamilton, assistant manager of the Bank of Montreal in that city, has been promoted to manager of the bank at Bridgeport, near Kitchener. Keith, son-in-law of Mrs. John Henderson of Hensall, was for- merly on the staff of the Bank of Montreal in Hensall. Mrs. Lynda Regan, Terry, Lori and Brenda, are taking up resi- dence in Usborne Township Sat- urday of this week. Sgt. and Mrs. Bill Shupe, Sari and Sue-Ellen, who have been stationed with the American Air Force at Okinawa, near Japan, for the past two and a half years, have arrived at San Francisco. Mrs. Shupe is the former Bernice Jinks, daughter of Mrs. Irene Jinks of Hensall. Mrs. Irene Jinks and Susan have returned after spending a weeks vacation with Mr. and Mrs. Ross Jinks and family, London.
