Mrs. Hugh McMurtrie has re-
turned home after spending two
weeks with her sister, Mrs. R.
S. Hopkins, at her summer home
on Saddle Lake Island, Michigan,
Mr. and Mrs. Terry North of
St. Thomas, spent the weekend
with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Snell.
Couple fly east
to attend funeral
Mrs. Mary Taylor and daugh-
ter, Mrs. Gordon Munn, flew to
Novia Scotia Friday evening to
attend the funeral of the former's
grandson, Allan Young, 26, who
was killed in a car accident
Thursday evening, July 27.
Allan, who was born in Hensall,
was stationed with the Navy in
Nova Scotia, and will be well-
known In the Chiselhurst area.
Surviving are his wife and a
year old baby, and his parents.

A chicken barbecue was held
Saturday evening, July 29, on the
lawn at the home of Mr. and Mrs.
Elzar Mousseau which was spon-
sored by the Youth for Christ.
There were 144 in attendance.
Speaker for the evening was Mr.
Leroy Powers of London. A short
program followed.
Mr. Robert Thomson attended
the Chase-Miller wedding at God-
erich Saturday at 4:30 pm in the
Methodist Church.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Carter of
Brantford spent the weekend with
the latter's parents, Mr. and Mrs.
Nelson Hood.

Expo before returning to B.C.

Appointment of Mr. D. R. Mac-
Laren as assistant manager of the
Bank of Montreal's Bloor and
Bay Streets Branch has been
announced by Mr. Edward A.
Royce, Senior Vice-President,
Ontario Division, in Toronto.
Mr. MacLaren was previously
accountant at the Oakville office.
He succeeds Mr. Hugh A. Far-
rant, who moves to the Dufferin
Street and Celt Avenue Branch
as manager. Mr. MacLaren has
taken over his new duties at
Toronto.

a month's holiday,

Arnold Harper, Joan, Jimmy and
Donald visited with Mr. Cunning-
ham in St. Joseph's Hospital
Sunday. Mr. and Mrs. Will Rit-
chie also visited Mr. Cunningham
at the hospital Sunday.

left last Tuesday by plane for
California to visit the former's
brother Roy Simpson.

Youngsters plan
jaunt to London
The highlight of the third week
of the Hensall Playground Pro-
gram was the Gypsy Parade and
Campout held Thursday, July 27.
110 children participated in the
Gypsy Parade and 50 attended
the marshmallow roast, camp-
out and breakfast. Special thanks
to Mrs. Roland Vanstone who
provided porridge for the hungry
campers.
The roller skating program
averaged 50 skaters a time and
has proved a successful innova-
tion for the Hensall Recreation
Committee.
Our swimming program which
will culminate with the final tests
during the week of August 25,
has been an excellent venture
for the children of Hensall. We
thank the Exeter Swimming Staff
and the Exeter Recreation Com-
mittee for their co-operation.
This past week the older girls
completed well designed paper
mache jewellery while the older
boys made colorful collages.
This Friday the Hensall child-
ren will be leaving the Town
Hall at 10:30 am on a bus bound
for Storybook Gardens in Lon-
don. The cost will be 24 for
bus fare and 14 admission
charge. The bus will return to
the Town Hall at 5:00 pm.
Tuesday, August 8 the winners
of the Hensall Track and Field
Meet (to be held on Thursday,
August 3) will travel to St. Marys
to compete in the Lake Huron
District Track and Field Champ-
ionship.
