Clandeboye congregation mark 102nd anniversary Calder McKaig, Mrs. T. L. Scott, Mrs. Mervin Dow and Mrs. Dodds as assistants. Mrs. Boyne also led in devotions and gave an outline of a sermon by Peter. Mrs. Grace Scott presided and gave words of welcome to the guests. The Glad Tidings prayer was led by Mrs. T. Laing and special prayer for missionaries by Mrs. M. Lamond. A reading was given by Mrs. Mervin Dow and a trio of Mrs. T. L. Scott, Mrs. R. Laing and Mrs. G. Carey sang. Mrs. Cliff Miller favored with a solo with Mrs. Alf Ross accompanying at the piano. A Bible quiz prepared by Mrs. E. Moore was conducted by Mrs. T. L. Scott and a cross word puzzle by Mrs. Lamond. A social hour followed the meeting and lunch was served with Mrs. Lamond and Mrs. M. Dow as conveners. J, H. PATON CLANDEBOYE Clandeboye United Church held its 102nd anniversary, Sunday. The Rev. G. W. Sach and Mrs. Sach, organist, were pleased to have a junior choir for the ser- vice. They sang twice. Those taking part were Misses Hazel and Helen Simpson, K at hr yn Worthington, Laura and Pat Hod- gins, June and Joan Donaldson, Linda Hardy, Margo Railings, Betty Scott, Debbie IVIillson, Hi Thompson and Ricky Railings, Mr. Sach introduced the guest speaker, Rev. Gordon H. Merk- ley, BA, BD from Granton. His sermon subject was “Be Ye. Do- ers of the Word and not Hearers Only". ANNUAL TEACHERS' SERVICE Sunday afternoon the annual Baccalaureate Service for Lon- don Teachers' College was in First St. Andrew's Church, ,Lon- don, Miss Joan Cunningham, a student of the college and her family attended the service, The Rev. Alex J. Farquhar, minister, had a prayer for the graduates and gave the sermon. Other ministers attending were Lutheran, Rev. Don Johnson; Bap- tist, Rev. Fred Darnell; Anglican, Rev. H. R. Montgomery. Each year it is held in different church- es for Protestants and Roman Catholics at St. Peter's Basilica. About 600 students attend. ST. JAMES CHURCH At St. James Church, service was at 9:45 am with the rector, the Rev. E. 0. Lancaster in charge with a good crowd. It was wise to change to early morning service a week earlier so the organist, Miss Joan Cun- ningham, student could attend the Baccalaureate service at 2 pm for London Teachers' Col- lege students which was at First St. Andrew's Church. VISITS EXPO Mr. Murray Simpson ga v e some of the highlights of the trip he took to Expo with his friends, Gcrdon Young, Lucan, and Jerry London. They left by motor Thursday night April 27 at 12 o'clock by Hwy 401 and arrived at Expo in seven hours. He found people very courteous — there were great crowds and meals were very expensive. They had overnight lodging bo oked ahead. They found the Canadian pavil- ion of great interest with live shows on theatre free. They en- joyed the minirail trip around the grounds. They liked the Russian pavilion also. The boys saw five hockey games. PERSONALS Cpl. A. J. Boggs, Mts. Boggs, Vicki and Tracy, Trenton, spent Easter with Mr. & Mrs. Mur- less. Mr. Boggs has gone to Germany to get a house and will come back and take the family to Germany. Mrs. Arthur Cunningham re- turned home Friday night from Victoria Hospital. Miss Barbara Cunningham spent the weekend with her family.
