There are a lot
of ways to tell how
good a farmer is.
But this is the best
sign.
This is the sign that money can't buy.
Everyfarmer who displays it has earned it,
How? First, by developing his land so
that extraordinarily high production levels
are possible and second, by adhering to
sound management practices—including
the recommended applications of Super Q.
For Super Q is both a fertilizer—and a
program, And the two are inseparable.
Super Q itself is the most advanced
fertilizer—in concept and content—on the
market.
Used on good, productive land, Super Q
can help you to produce higher yields of
premium duality crops netting you $5 to
$30, depending on the crops, for every
extra dollar you've invested.
Find out how you can earn "the Sign of
the Growing Man". See your Super

Convention concern
Need exports for turnips
Mr. Vanneste reported that it
was the conclusion of the meet-
ing that growers don't appear
concerned about the ominous
signs, but said that they could
lose more exports if something
wasn't done.
He said a growers' meeting
would be held in Stratford in
March.
Four still
undefeated
Minister Robert Winters be peti-
tioned to arrange a meeting to
find ways to increase exports.
Growers also felt a promotion
and research program should be
started in the near future to help
the industry, which has seen
declining exports in almost every
year recently. The figure is down
160,000 bushel from last year.
A Grand Bend vegetable grow-
er was named to the executive
of the Ontario Fruit and
Vegetable Growers Association
last week.
Charles Srokoz will chair the
committee dealing with onions.
Named to head the Association
was Donald F. Wright, Harrow.
Frank Vanneste, RR 1 Clande-
boye, area director of the turnip
growers' section was present at
the convention, and reported that
the decline in turnip exports was
one of the main concerns ex-
pressed by turnip growers and
shippers.
Smith Griffin, Acton, chairman
of the turnip section, outlined
last year's activities, noting that
a dry planting season had resulted
in poor stands in some areas.
However, below norm al flee-
beetle infestation and good har-
vest weather helped most grow-
ers.
It was noted that dealers and
shippers In Ontario are facing
stiff competition due to high On-
tario prices. Turnips from new
areas such as Texas, Virginia,
Michigan and Manitoba were be-
ing brought into this province.

This year's farm record books
are now available at The Times-
Advocate or from the department
of agriculture and food office in
Clinton.
These books are becoming in-
creasingly popular with area
farmers as it enables them to
keep a comprehensive report of
their year's business.
By using the books, farmers
are able to see how their busi-
ness is developing and the de-
partment of agriculture al so
notes that such a record makes
credit easier to obtain and in-
come tax easier to assess.
One unique feature of the books
is the fact they have been de-
signed for computer analysis.
That is, farmers keeping their
business records in these books
can have them analyzed and com-
pared with low and high income
farm enterprises free of charge
at the year's end by sending their
books to the Ontario Agricultural
College in Guelph.
