Harrison, 76, Chatham, former minister at Holy Trinity at Lucan and St. James Anglican churches, Clan- deboye, for 21 years died in St. Marys Hospital, London, Mon- day, January 9. Mr. Harrison was rector at Woodstock, Oldcastle, Clinton, Lucan and Dorchester and was assistant rector at Bishop C ronyn Memorial Church, London, for several years after retirement. He has been under the doctor's care for some time. He was born March 5, 1921, fifth child of Elderada Sholdice and late Albert Harlton on a farm on Concession 11 of Mc- Gillivray township. He was bap- tized in St. Mary's Church Brins- ley, attended Sunday School and SS 5 public school. In April 1952 he went into business for himself in a general store and gasoline business on Highway 22, 10 miles west of London at Lobo. About six years ago the store was purchased by Ontario Highway Dept. 22. Con- sequently he bought pr op er t y along the new 22 highway and built a complete gasoline service station and erected a home. He moved a house from the grounds of St. Joseph's Hospital to his property, where his mother now resides. He is survived by his wife, his mother, Mrs. Albert Harl- ton, Lobo; a son, Benson of Woodstock, Clifford, C arl yl e, Shirley and Sheryl, all at home, and a sister, Mrs. Phillip (Beat- rice) Vercoe, Messa, Arizona. Funeral services were con- ducted at the T. Stephenson and Son funeral home, Ailsa Craig, by Rev. Marshall of Ivan and Rev. Maurice Platts of Mel- bourne UC on Monday, January 2 with interment in St. Mary's cemetery, Brinsley. pallbearers were Messrs Karl Pickering, Albert Hoyt, H. The Exeter Hawks dropped their first game in more than a month in Both' I. lward, Thursday and then bounced back with two consecutive wins to maintain a solid hold on second plac3 in the Shamrock junior hackey league. After losing 6-4 in Point Ed- ward, the locals outscored Port Huron Beefeaters 8-3 here, Fri- day and whipped Alvinston 11-5, Tuesday, again on home ice, The latest wins give the locals a season point total of 25, five behind the loop leading Dresden Kings. The Hawks will have a chance to move closer to first place as they tangle head on with the Kings in Dresden, Friday and back on Exeter ice a week later. The three members of the Exeter club's top forward line have taken over the league scor- ing race. Mike Cushman is on top of the heap with 63 points and is closely followed by Craig Chapman and Gary Parsons with respective totals of 53 and 52. Parsons is tied withRoyBoyes of Dresden for the goal scoring title with 31, while Chapman and game, but Mike Cushman of the Hawks collected two of them in his club's 11-5 win over Alvin- ston. The clubs battled on fairly even Cushman each have 34 assists to lead in that department. SIX FOR CUSHMAN Most players are satisfied to settle for one hat trick in any terms for the first two periods before the Hawks moved well ahead in the final 20 minutes. Craig Chapman and Cushman bulged the twine for the locals in the opening frame and Ray Morgan replied for the visitors. The second period was the most productive for Mike Cushman as he scored on no less than three occasions. Grant Walker supplied another marker for the Hawks and B o b McLean added two and Morgan one for Alvinston to give Show birds at Lucan The Southwestern Ontario Fed- eration of Racing Pigeon Clubs held its annual show Saturday, January '7, at the Shillelagh Mo- tel, Lucan. Close to 500 birds were placed on display by fan- ciers from Sarnia, St. Thomas, Delhi, London, Galt, Brantford, Stratford, Exeter and Lucan. Judging was done by the well known topnotch 500 miler from Buffalo New York, John S. War- ren. Mr. Warren is also a dir- ector of the American Union Hall of Fame and came to Lucan at the request of Clarence Hardy after having just officiated at the large Pittsburg Centre Show. He received assistance from Bill Barradell, Frank Verbeke, Jack Hardy, and Jim Scarlett. Cash prizes and ribbons were awarded and the trophy for best young bird of show went to Don Comley, Stratford, for his black Ck. hen #30784, while trophy for best old bird was presented to Jack White, London, for his Blue Check Cock #39579. Mr. John Warren of William- ville, judge at the Racing Pigeions Convention held in Lucan last Saturday and Mrs. Warren spent the week-end with Mr. Frank Hardy and family. Saturday in Mrs. Warren's honor Mrs. Hardy entertained all the ladies, while the men attended the judging at the Shillelagh. Before leaving for home Sun- day, Mrs. Clarence Hardy en- tertained 14 of the group for breakfast. the Hawks a d-4 lead at the second intermission, Alvinston got close for a moment early in the third as Ray Morgan notched his third of the night. From this point on, the Hawks took over and scored five times without an answer from the visi- tors. Cushman and Gary Parsons each scored twice in the last Mixed curlers hold bonspiel Two rinks came up with three consecutive wins to share top awards in a mixed curling bons- piel held at the local club over the week end. In the draw starting at nine in the morning a foursome headed by Clarence Down turned aside all opposition to gain top spot. Combining with Down were Helen Burton, Mary Taylor and Roy Lamport. Finishing second in the first event was a rink com- prising Art and Betty Clarke, Pete Coates and Jack Galloway. Peter R aymond's quartet proved to be best in the eleven o'clock draw, going through the day with an unbeaten record. Other members of the winning squad were Sally Lou Raymond and Dorothy and Gerry Prout, Lee Webber skipped his rink to a second place finish in the later draw. Curlers end initial draws First draw winners in both the mens and ladies divisions of the Exeter curling club were decided over the past week. After losing one game early in the season, a rink skipped by Helen Burton came on strong and knocked off Edna Busche's previously unbeaten foursome in the final game, 9-5. Other members of the Champ- ion club are Ruth Skinner, Shirley Davidson and Alma Godbolt. KING REIGNS In the men's final game, an extra end was needed to produce a winner. With each man throw- ing only one rock in the play-off end, "King" McDonald with his last delivery eliminated a Jack Gaiser stone and left his rock in the house to triumph 8-7. The Gaiser rink, down '7-1 at one point, came back with a strong finish, counting once in the eighth end to cause the extra round. LOSE ON ROAD A short-handed Hawk crew Dart Sharks lead in Legion darts. The Dart Sharks opened up a two point lead atop the standings in the Exeter Legion mixed dart league as regular play resumed Friday after the holiday recess. The Sharks upped their season to 44 points with a 3-2 win over the Hairpins who hold down the runner-up spot jointly with the Itchy Four with identical 42 point records.
