The Pee Wee's, Bantams and
M fidgets played Stoneybrook in the
Gardens at London, Saturday
morning. As a result our pee
Wee houseleague was short of
players.
Two teams were picked from
the players on hand and they had
a very lively game with the
score ending in a 4-4 tie. Brian
Tuckey and. John Vriese each
scored two goals for Danny 13rint
nell's team, Billy Van Bergen,
Noel Skinner with one goal each
and Jim Brintnell with two goals
were the marksmen for Martin
DYkstra's team. This game will
not count in the standing of the
Pee Wee league.
Games this Saturday: 8-9, Red
Wings vs Maple Leafs; 9 - 10,
Black Hawks vs Canadians.
Rangers won their first game of
the new season on Saturday with
d score of 3-0 over Boston in
novice hockey.... Brian Taylor,
Brian Penhale and Martin Page
each scored a goal for the Rang-
ers,
Goal production in Squirt
hockey was higher this week
because one of the novice play-
ers John Gould "slept in" and
missed the 10;00 a.m. game so
we let him play at 11;00 with
the squirts. A total of eight goals
were scored with JohnGould get-
Minors drop
three of six
The best that Exeter minor
hockey teams could do in thepast
week of Shamrock action was
gain one win and two ties in six
starts.
The only win was racked up by
Bev Skinner's squirts as they
edged Stoneybrook 2-1 In regular
Saturday action at the Lucan
arena.
Wednesday night at the local
rink two Dorchester teams were
the invaders. In the opener the
visitors downed the Exeter pee
wees 2-1 while in second half
action bantam squads from the
two towns battled to a 3-3 draw.
Travelling to Treasure Island
Gardens in London, S at urday
morning the Exeter midgets were
held to a 4-4 tie by Stoneybrook
while the pee wees and bantams
were on the short end of re-
spective 4-1 and 3-2 counts.
In Saturday's pee wee action,
Perry Stover counted the lone
Exeter marker to avert a shut-
out.
Playing in the second part of
the tripleheader, the local ban-
tams were leading 2-0 with less
than three minutes to go in the
game when the home club broke
loose for three goals and the win.
John Braid and Steve Murley
whipped in the Exeter goals.
John Loader and Mike Hoy not-
ched a pair of goals apiece in the
4-4 stalemate with Stoneybrook.
Van Tuckey and Gary Penhale
were the marksmen in the first
period of the squirt contest in
Lucan and the locals were able
to hold on for a 2-1 decision.
Perry Stover converted a pass
from Peter Kleinstiver early in
the third period for the only Ex-
eter pee wee counter in the 2-1
loss to Dorchester.
Following their usual pattern
the Exeter bantams blew an early
third period 3-1 lead, but were
able to hang on for a tie in Wed-
nesday's action with Dorchester.
Steve Murley hit the mark in the
first and second periods for the
locals while Allan Parsons added
a single in the first moments of
the third stanza.

MAN LANES
The goal judges were the busi-
est fellows at the arena, Thurs-
day night as the Rec hockey league
season opened with a double head-
er.
The play for fun boys started
right where they left off last
spring. This time the tables were
turned as the runner-up Bank
Boys scored a 14 - 10 win over
the defending champion Old Tim-
ers, In the nightcap, Crediton
edged Graham and Graham 11-9.
HAT TRICKS
A pair of three goal perfor-
mances led the Bank Boys in
their 14-10 conquest of the Old
Timers.
Dale Turvey and Bob Jones
grabbed the hat tricks in ac-
counting for a large share of
the scoring for the "monied
men". Larry Stire, Pete McFalls
and Paul Mason added two goals
each to the winning cause, while
Jim Russell and Lloyd Moore
contributed singles.
The Old Timers scoring at-
tack was led by the three goal
effort of left winger Ron Horn.
Terry Bourne and Hal Flaro
found the mark on two occasions
each and Bob Baynham, Ron Bo-
gart and Kevin Delbridge notched
singletons.
