Mrs. Wm. Spence and Mrs. Ellis Strahan had charge of the meeting, the theme being “Rem- embrance Day". Mrs. Lloyd Cowdrey favored with a solo. Mrs. E. Strahan read the poem (tin Flanders Fields". Mrs, A, Timms gave a reading "The Maple Tree". Mrs. George Wilson read a poem ""Why Did They Take My Boy". Mrs. Bob Robinson conducted the business. Articles for a baby's layette are to be brought to the December meeting. Mrs. George Wilson introduced Miss Dawn Blackler of Kirkton who showed colored slides taken during her stay of two years in Australia and tour through Japan, China, Russia to England where she spent some time. Mrs. Fred parkinson entertained with a number of games and contests. Reinhart, vacancy pastor, had the topic on Stewardship, President Mrs. Leonard Schenk dealt with the business. Donations were made to Children's Aid and CNIB. Mrs. Frieda Keller and Mrs. John Rader are the visiting committee for November, Mrs. Milford Merner, Mrs. Robert Hayter, and Mrs. Leonard Schenk are the nominating committee. Group 4 led in closing devotions. ELECTED SECRETARY The Youth Fellowships of the Stratford District met at Dash- wood EUB Church Saturday even- ing. A turkey banquet served by the ladies of the church was home last week after a lengthy stay in St. Joseph's Hospital, London. Mr. Sheldon Wolfe and Peter, and Rev. J. M. Oestreicher of Clifford, and Rev. John S. Oes- treicher from Selkirk were Sat- urday visitors with Mr. and Mrs. Carl Oestreicher and boys and Mr. Sam Oestreicher. Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Oestricher of Crediton spent Sunday after- noon with Mr. Sam Oestreicher and Mr. and Mrs. Carl Oestrei- cher. Mrs. Chas. Snell spent a few days with Mr. and Mrs. Ron Snell and Timothy of London. PERSONALS Many parents and ratepayers took advantage of open house at the Central School to tour the building and meet the teachers. Armstrong RR 1 Clandeboye, has just returned from an extensive trip to Europe. She left New York City by plane August 10 and after an hour's stop in Iceland reached Luxembourg. Three days were spent in Paris and for a month she lived with a French family in Asnan situated in the middle of France in order to perfect her French and learn French customs. Miss Armstrong left Asnan September 18 and travelled a- cross country to Mulhouse close to the German and Swiss borders. She travelled through Switzerland remaining in Geneva three days. L. Becker con- venor was in charge of the No- vember meeting of Dashwood WI at which members of Hensall, Kippen, and Elimville institutes were guests. President, Mrs. Glen Webb, welcomed everyone and con- ducted opening exercises after which she turned the chair over to Mrs. Syd Baker, who presided for the program. Mrs. T. MacMillan of Exeter was guest speaker and she show- ed Christmas boxes and demon- strated how each was wrapped. Some of these boxes, bows, and decorations were added to a penny sale which was conducted byMrs. Eben Weigand. A comical skit and a square dance by the ladies rounded out the program. All sat down to tables decorated in the Armistice theme. Mrs. J. M. About 18 attended and in a short business period a donation of $15 was voted to the Mental Health fund. Mr. James Donaldson was able to be up and go to Dr. Bantam's office Wednesday. He has to stay in bed, but one hour up each day.
