Mrs. Ron Wareing was hostess
at her home last Wednesday ev-
ening for the meeting of Hensall
Kinette Club. Prior to the meet-
ing members canvassed the vil-
lage selling tickets on two Christ-
mas cake draws and report a
wonderful response.
Next meeting, Wed., Nov. 23
they will entertain patients at the
Ontario Hospital at Goderich.
They will visit shut-ins Sunday,
November 27, an annual project,
and will serve coffee and sweets
at Open House at Hensall Public
School Wednesday, Nov. 16 at
7:30 to which the public is in-
vited to tour the school and see
the new addition.
Mrs. Bob Caldwell won the
raffle and a contest conducted
by the Social committee was
won by Mrs. Harold Knight.

Seaforth couple
25 years wed
Mr. and Mrs. Don Carter,
Seaforth, and Mr. and Mrs. Wil-
liam G. H. Brown, of Hamilton,
gave a dinner at the Dominion
Hotel, Zurich, Tuesday evening,
Nov. 8 in honor of their father
and mother, Mr. and Mrs.
William M. Brown of Jarvis
Street, Seaforth, formerly of
Hensall, on the occasion of their
25th wedding anniversary. Rel-
atives were present from Tavi-
stock, Kitchener, Lucan,
Thamesford, Hamilton and Sea-
forth.
Japan mission
to be detailed
Combined congregations of
Hensall and Chiselhurst United
Churches will be held in Hensall
next Sunday Nov. 20 when Miss
Leona Douglas, Missionary from
Japan will be guest speaker.
During her years in Japan she
taught in Christian Girls'
Schools. In the beginning she
served under the WMS of the
Church and later under the Board
of World Mission of the United
Church of Canada. This year
she completes her period of ser-
vice in Overseas Mission Work.
The following Sunday Nov. 27
will also bring another guest
speaker to Hensall United Church
when Rev. Mac Carson of Wes-
ley Centre, Hamilton will address
the Senior Sunday School Class
who will have as their guests

Saturday night.

Sixteen members of Hensall
WI attended the Dashwood WI
meeting Tuesday, Nov. 8 held
at Dashwood Community Centre
and report a wonderful evening.
Several members came home
with prizes they had won.
The draw for the weekly Kin-
smen $25.00 cash was won by
Ward Kraft of Exeter.

who spoke on the "Value of a
Hobby" stating everybody should
have a hobby today for relaxation
for the nerves as today everybody
is on the move so fast. She also
spoke of the changes of the times

members.

by Mrs. Wilbert Dilling. A spec-
ial collection taken up for the
Childrens Aid Society at Gode rich
amounted to $14.86. Program
convenors were Mrs. Riley and
Mrs. Pearl Koehler, hostesses

Hensall Branch of the Cana-
dian Legion 468 observed Rem-
embrance Day on Sunday, No-
vember 13 with a service at
the Cenotaph where wreaths were
placed for the Province of Ont-
ario by Mrs. Mary Taylor; Leg-
ion, President Ernest Davis;
Legion Auxiliary, president Mrs.
Harold Campbell; Kinsmen and
Kinettes, President Murray -Bak-
er; 1st Hensall Girl Guides, Linda
Fuss; Village of Hensall, Reeve
Minnie Noakes; Hay Township,
John Corbett; Tuckersmith,
Reeve Elgin Thompson. Rev. J.
C. Boyne offered prayer.
The parade (largest in years)
comprised of Legion, Auxiliary,
Guides and Brownies and their
leaders headed by Exeter Legion
Pipe Band, marched to Carmel
Presbyterian Church where Rev.
J. C. Boyne delivered the mem-
orial address on "Remembrance
Day". The choir sang under dir-
ection of Mrs. Beatrice Hess.
During the service Kelly
Marie, infant daughter of Mr. and
Mrs. Roland Vanstone, and David
of holy baptism. James Taylor
was color Sergeant, Wilmer Dal-
rymple, Parade Marshall. Stan-
dard bearers for the Legion were
Ron Mock and W, H. Bell; Aux-
iliary, Mrs. Harry Horton and
Mrs. Garnet Allan.

REMEMBRANCE BANQUET
The annual Legion Remem-
brance Day dinner attended by
fifty members was held in the
Legion Hall Friday, November
11 with a dinner served by the
Legion Auxiliary. Guests were
Reeves John Corbett of Hay, and
Elgin Thompson of Tuckersmith
who spoke briefly.
Guest speaker during the
dinner hour was Rev. E. D.
Stuart of Brucefield who de-
livered an interesting and in-
spiring message on "Sacrifice".

Five girls join
local Brownies
Five new members, Tammy
Baker, Barbara Cooper, Deborah
Kyle, Brenda Clement and Lisa
Brothers were received into the
Hensall Brownie Pack Tuesday
Nov 1.
Brown Owl, Mrs. Robert Cook,
extended a welcome to all the
mothers present and Tawny Owl,
Mrs. Rodger Venner arranged the
ceremony and enrolled the new
Brownies. Proficiency badges
were presented to Joan Goddard
and Patty VanWieren who both
received their collectors badge,
and Judith Mickle who received
her minstrel badge. Snowy Owl
Mrs. Barrie Jackson presented
Golden Bars to Joan Alexander,
Margaret Roose bo o m, Aileen
Klungel and Patti Rowcliffe. Fol-
lowing the enrollment and pres-
entations Brownie songs and a
game and story were enjoyed
by all.
A letter was received last week
from the Childrens Aid Society
in London thanking the Hensall
Brownies for their donation of
$5.00 which will be used towards
Christmas gifts for the children.
The Brownies gave the donation
from the money they received
for collecting baskets in Hen-
sall.
Women conduct
dessert euchre
Amber Rebekah Lodge held a
successful dessert euchre in the
Lodge Hall Wednesday afternoon,
November 9 with Seaforth and
Exeter Lodges well represented
as well as ladies from Brucefield
and Hensall.
Fourteen tables were in play for
euchre and winners were: First
prize, Mrs. A. Foster, Hensall;
Second, Mrs. Ernie Whitehouse,
Kippen; lone hands, Mrs. Em-
merson Kyle, Kippen; lucky cup,
Mrs. Elizabeth Douglas, Bruce-
field; anniversary nearest date
of euchre, Mrs. Tom Kyle, Sr.,
Hensall.
A bake sale was held which
did a rushing business.
