Hospital Tuesday.

Who underwent surgery at St. Jo-
seph's Hospital, recuperated for
a week with her sister, Mrs.

Main St., North, and is now able
to return to work.

Mrs. H, S. Stanley were Wednes-
day guests of Mr. & Mrs. Al
Bromwich of Willowdale. They
brought home Lynn Stanley and
Billy Lewis and also Elizabeth
and Susan Bromwich for a return
visit with their Lucan cousins.

of West Lorne spent a few days

Following the ceremony the
bridal party dined at the Friars
Cellar Restaurant, London.
For a honeymoon trip to North-
ern Ontario the bride changed to
a navy suit with wedding corsage.
The young couple will make
their home at RR 3 Lucan, near
Elginfield.

A memorial family gathering
was held at Mr. & Mrs. Jim
Mugford's borne Sunday. Those
present included Mr. Murray Ab-

Mr. & Mrs, Lloyd Maguire and
family of Scotland, Ont. The Ma-
guire family will remain over for
a week's vacation.

Several injured
in area mishap
Early last Tuesday a London
car missed a highway curve on
Highway 7 near Prospect Hill and
landed in a ditch. James loch,
17, of Stanley St., London who
suffered a broken ankle was tak-
en by ambulance to St. Joseph's
Hospital London.
James Gormley, 23, of John-
ston St. received a broken nose,
Frances Gormley, 17, also of
Stanley St., head cuts, Dennis
Ducherme of Springbank Drive,
back injuries and C at her in e
Purdy, 17, of Elgin St. multiple
bruises. They were all taken by
a passing motorist to St. Marys
Hospital,
Provincial police from Lucan
investigated.

help at carnival
Legion members from London,
Southampton, Newbury, Glencoe,
Sarnia, Chatham, Tilbury and
Lucan last Saturday held their
4th carnival on the Westminster
Hospital grounds providing
sports and prizes for the patients.
The Lucan branch was repre-
sented by comrades, Les Ken-
nedy, Pat Crudge and J. W.
Smith.
The Lucan Legion is staging
their annual corn roast at the
Legion Hall, Saturday, August 27
at 8:30 pm for all their members
and their friends.

Youth hurt
in accident
Edward Wayne Scale 16, of RR
3 Granton, was taken to St. Jo-
seph's Hospital by the Murdy
Ambulance of Lucan Thursday
following an 8 am accident on
Highbury Ave. near Bryanston
when his motor bike was in col-
lision with a bread truck driven
by Murray Douglas Baker of
London. The youth received face
and back injuries..
OPP Constable M. A. Camp-
bell of the Lucan detachment,
investigated the accident.

Mrs. Ross Ferguson of RR 3
Lucan, the former Susan Edith
Shipway, of Alice St., took all
her friends by surprise when she
was very quietly married in Holy
Trinity Anglican Church at 9 am
Saturday, August 6.
Since then, she has been hon-
ored with three miscellaneous
showers.
Mrs. Eleanor Copelandof Lon-
don entertained a number of the
bride's relatives at her home.
Mrs. Ferguson was assisted by
her husband in the opening of
gifts,
The second shower was staged
by Mrs. Ken Hayter of Lucan in
her home when she entertained
a large group of Lucan friends,
and the bride's great aunt, Mrs.
Ken Clampitt and cousin of Lobo.
Dianne Shipway assisted her sist-
er open her gifts.
Mrs. Ed. Butler of Lucan was
hostess for the third shower
which was followed by a wiener
roast.
A quiet two ring marriage
ceremony, was solemnized at
9 am Saturday August 6, in Holy
Trinity Anglican Church, Lucan,
when the rector, the Rev. E. 0.
Lancaster, united in marriage
Susan Edith Shipway and Clayton
Ross Ferguson.
The bride is the daughter of
Mr. and Mrs. W. D. Shipway of
Alice St., Lucan, and the groom
is the son of Mr. Clayton Fer-
guson of Windsor and the late
Mrs. Ferguson.
Given in marriage by her fath-
er the bride chose a sleeveless
street-length gown of pink bro-
caded taffeta which featured a
large matching bow at the front
waist line and a split cape at the
rear was attached by a pink rose
to the rounded neckline. A should-
er length chiffon veil with scal-
loped edge and a corsage of deep
pink carnations completed her
ensemble.

Summer activities

We played Freeze and had races
in three different age groups
with prizes for both the races
and the game. Then we had a
hike through the woods and left
the Conservation Area about two
o'clock.
The Summer School has been
a big success this year and we
hope the children have enjoyed
themselves and learned some-
thing too.
A BEE-LESS BEE
The Lucan Lions Club held
another bee, at the Scout Hail
Saturday. Though there were no
bees left, to keep them on the
run, yet they spent a very busy
day painting, mowing and clean-
ing up the grounds.

Friday afternoon August 12,
the Summer School had a special
event at the Arena.
For the two previous days, the
children had been preparing their
costumes. Wednesday they made
Indian headbands with painted
feathers in them. Thursday afew
of the children made Indian cos-
tumes from potato sacks. The
children dressed up as Indians,
cowboys and pioneer women.
They sang a few Indian and
cowboy songs and played some
games. Then they painted sonic
shells with various designs and
had a bubble gum-blowing contest
and w e gave out red licorice
to all who attended.
Mr. Burt judged the costumes:
Debbie Davis came first and
Faye Black second. They were
awarded chocolate bars as
prizes.
Friday August 19, the Summer
School closed for the year with
a picnic at the Ausable Conser-
vation Area with about 43 child-
ren attending. They played games
in the morning and then at 11:30
