SUNDAY SERVICE
A large congregation including
many visitors attended the Mas-
onic service in the United Church
Sunday morning. The service was
conducted by the pastor Rt. Wor.
Bro. Duncan Guest, a Past Grand
Chaplain of the Masonic Lodge
in the province of Ontario. The
Scripture lesson was read by
Wor. Bro. Ray Lammie.
Rev. Guest chose as his sub-
ject ''Symbolism in Free Mason-
ry and Religion" and introduced
his message by stating Sym-
bolism, Ritual and Ceremony
were a vital part not only of
Masonry but also of religion
and the Christian church.
He pointed out that symbolism
played a vital part in the worship
of the early Christians who gave
a prominent place to symbolism
in their cathedrals and other
places of worship as a means of
conveying to the world the Chris-
tian truths. Free Masonry makes
use of symbols to convey the
truths of the Great Architect
of the Universe.
Rev. Guest urged a close
relationship between Free Ma-
sonry and the church because the
interests of each are similar and
their principles the same. Sym-
bolism of Masonry and the church
should convince man of his own
smallness and of God's great-
ness; should teach him humility
and to regard every man, re-
gardless of color, race or creed,
as his brother.
The junior and senior choirs
filled the choir loft with the
junior choir singing a number.
Robert Lammie was the soloist
and sang two solos.
