Thirteen of the top bowlers in
the Exeter Mixed league were
presented with trophies for their
excellence in maintaining high
averages and in tossing top single
and three game effort at the loop's
wind-up banquet at the Legion
Hall, Saturday night.
Awards were given to the top
male and female competitor in
each of the Friday and Sunday
divisions of the league. Pete Bil-
eski, Tbm Triebner, Betty Wil-
son and Nancy Dawson were tops
in the average department with
yearly records of 228, 203, 206
and 193 respectively.
Al Flynn 774, Gerald Camp-
bell 773, Maddy Wells 776 and
Ruth Durand with 762 led in three
game totals. In Single game ef-
forts, Ray Ferguson led his div-
ision tossing a 348, Art Frayne
and Bill Brock were deadlocked
at 320 and Doris Dobson and
Anne Jorgensen tallied scores of
302 and 300. only two keglers
and both from the ladies section
Were able to come up with more
than one game over the coveted
300 mark, Nancy Dowson ac-
complished the feat three times
racking up scores of 306, 313
and 321. Doris Dobson broke the
300 barrier with games of 302
and 316.

Lucan Homing Club members
raced their birds from George-
town, Saturday May 14 a distance
of 80 miles. There were 128
birds participating and they aver-
aged 45 miles per hour.
First place winner was Hardy-
holme, loft of the late Frank
Hardy. In order of next placing
were J. Hardy & Son (second and
third) M. Culbert & Son and
Clarence Hardy.

Ladies golf
opens Tuesday
The Exeter Ladies Twilight
Golf Club will open for the com-
ing season Tuesday, May 24, at
the Exeter Golf course at 5:30.
Last year's membership of 24
has dwindled somewhat with some
of the ladies from CFB Cen-
tralia leaving due to postings.
Any ladies in the area wishing
to join this club that meets every
Tuesday for the summer are
asked to contact the secretary,
Mrs. Lois S ne 11 at 235-0826.
Membership in the club for the
season is $2. Regular rounds
will be played for the first five
weeks and then handicaps will
be set based on each ladies
performance up to that time.
Various tournaments will be
played throughout the summer
and the Irwin and Westcott tro-
phies will be up for grabs.

golf tourney
Squadron Leader Tom Reid
walked off with top honors in the
CFB Centralia Early Bird golf
tournament played at the Ausable
club last Friday. Reid fired afine
round of 77 to take the low gross
award for his section and the en-
tire day. This was the only score
in the 70's for the 39 competitors
playing on a muddy course due to
the recent heavy rains.
Low gross scores in the other
divisions were F/L Verreault 82,
Sgt. Martel 89, WO Knoblauch 96
and F/L Salter 102. F/S Mel
Soper was best for the day in low
net with a round of 72. Other low
net returns were Verreault 75,
Flight Sergeant Al Piper 75,
Wally Burton 75 and LAC Marst-
ers 72.
A number of CFB Centralia
golfers will be participating in
a RCAFA tourney at Windsor May
28. The first of a home and home
series with CFB Clinton will be
played at Centralia June 17 with
the McNicol trophy going to the
eventual winner.
