Exeter minor hockey teams
have good weekend games
The Exeter Pee Wees moved
closer to the Shamrock League
title on Sunday when they blanked
Stoneybrook 4-0 in Strathroy. In
other Sunday games the Exeter
Midgets defeated Stoneybrook to
become Shamrock champs while
the Legion Bantams were ousted
by Stoneybrook in the finals.
Goa'tender Jim Brown of the
local pee wees picked up his
fifth shutout of the year in the
first game on Sunday and now all
the Exeter club has to do is gain
at least a tie in the third game
which will be played in Strathroy
this Sunday. Larry Davies set up
what proved to be the winning
marker with less than two min-
utes played in the first frame.
The slender center relayed a
perfect pass to Robbie Linden-
field at the point and. Lindenfield
fired a partially screened shot
into the Stoneybrook cage.
The score remained 1-0 until
the halfway point of the middle
period when Davies split the
,losers' defense to give the locals
a 2-0 bulge. The Exeter club
picked up two penalties in the
second period but the London
squad was unable to beat Brown
in the Exeter net.
Pete Glover and Steve Riddell
scored Exeter goals in the third
period as the locals completely
dominated play in the final stanza.
