Inter Mess Hockey at RCAF Station Centralia came toe close on Sunday evening when the airmen's
team defeated the Officers' entry 9-5. The best of 5 series was won in 3 games with the Airmen posting
decisive wins in 2 games, 6-3, 3-2, 9-5, G/C G.F. Ockenden presented the Intermess Hockey trophy to
LAC Ed Swain, team captain.

The final game of a round-
robin play down, of the Composite
Police Curling League, was held
Friday afternoon, March 18,
1966, at the RCAF Station Cen-
tralia Curling Club.
The Trophy donated by Dixon
Van Lines Ltd. for the "A" Div-
ision was won by the rink of
London OPP and was presented
at the finish of the game by Mr.
Jack Symmonds, Dixon Van Lines
Sales Representative. Accepting
the Trophy was the skip of the
winning rink Const. Cord Nutley.
Members of his rink were: vice
skip Const, Andy Madill; second
Const. Paul Edwards and lead
Despatcher Tom Richardson.
The Campbell Brothers Ltd.
Trophy, donated to the winning
rink of "B" Division was won
by the RCAF Police Centralia.

The OPP Exeter were the win-
ners of the Leagues s eason
trophy. This is a new trophy,
donated this year by the Molson
Brewing Co. Ltd. The Trophy
is awarded to the team having
the highest number of points at
the end of the regular season.
Members of this winning rink
were: skip Coast, John Wright;
vice skip Const. Harry Reid; sec-
ond Const. Bill Glassford and
lead Cpl Clarence Mitchell. Also
donated, for the first time, was
a Trophy by Carlings Brewing
the Rec Hockey League finals
against the Bank Boys. The first
game of the best of three final
will be played tonight (Thursday)
with the second to be played on
Sunday.
The oldsters who finished sec-
ond during the regular season
outplayed the London Crew in the
early part of the game and held
a 10-4 lead at one time before
the construction boys came to
life. G and G came up with six
straight goals to tie the score
just before the end of the game
to send the tilt into a ten minute
overtime session.
The winners were under pres-
sure in the first half of the
overtime period but Graham and
Graham was unable to get the
puck behind goalie Dick McFalls
who tightened up after his let-
down. With just two minutes re-
maining in the period G and G
picked up a pair of penalties and
while they were shorthanded
Terry Bourne slipped behind the
defense, took a perfect pass and
went in to score the winning goal.
Bourne who picked up five goals
was the leading Old Timer goal-
getter while Bob Baynham was
next with four goals tohiS Credit.
Red Loader and Ted MacDonald
added a goal each for the winners,,
Frank Clarke led Graham and
Graham Construction with four
goals while Jack Clover added
a pair of tallies. Single goals
came off the sticks of Don Gra-
ham,: Ray Desjardine, Jim Mac-
Donald and Jack Stephen,
Co. Ltd., to be awarded to the
team having won the most games
at the end of the regular season.
Carlings Trophy was won by the
RCAF Police Clinton skipped by
Sgt Frank Pyke; vice skip Sgt
Wally Prest; second Cpl R
Prudden and lead Cpl Dave Camp-
bell. Both of these trophies will
also be presented at the dance
March 25, 1966.
The Composite Police Curling
League was formed in 1963 and
comprises of Police teams from
RCAF Stn Clinton, RCAF Stn
Centralia, OPP Exeter, Goder-
ich, Lucan, RCMP London &
Sarnia and teams from the Lon-
don City Police Department.
Dart results
The Corporal A dart team
ended any hopes that the Exeter
Legion had of finishing first in
the Centralia Inter-Mess Dart
League by defeating the Legion
6-4 on Wednesday night. By vir-
tue of their win the leaders who
have 140 points extended their
lead to 11 over the second place
Exeter squad.
In other games the third place
Corporal B club tied the Airmen
B 5-5 to bring their season total
to 110 points while the fourth
place Sergeants who have 94
points played a 5-5 sawoff against
the Airmen A squad.
Bill Smith of the Exeter Le-
gion won three games last week
and moved to within two of Joe
Berthelet who has won 40 games
for the season. Ed. Wallace
equaled his own high score of
180 last week.
MIXED LEAGUE
STARTS PLAYOFF'S
The first round of playoffs
was played in the Exeter Legion
Mixed League last Friday with
a couple of upsets coming up in
the nights play.
One of the upsets took place
when the Featherflights who fin-
ished fifth during the regular
season ousted the first place
Sharpshooters in their best of
five series. In other playoff ac-
tion the tough Plumber squad
eliminated the Cleaners while the
Itchy Four ousted the Champs
and the Blue BirdS ousted the Le-
gionnaires.
The four remaining teams will
now meet with the winners Play,
ing for the chattpiOnship im-
mediately after this F rida y's
competition. In the semi-final
round the Blue Birds will meet
the Featherflights while the
Plumbers will face the Itchy FoUr
in best of five series.
