underwent surgery last Wednes-
day and is improving nicely.

Huron TB report
Progress regarding the pre-
employment — pre-r etir ement
program was a highlight of the
case-finding report of the Huron
County Tuberculosis Association
meeting in the Town Hall, Clin-
ton, Thursday.
One hundred and thirty-two
businesses have been contacted
regarding having all employees
X-rayed initially and periodical-
ly. These businesses, together
with all public school teachers in
the county, have receiveda book-
let entitled, "TB — The Road To
Eradication," also. The co-op-
eration of the hospitals had been
expressed. The meeting was in
charge of the president, George
A. Watt, of Blyth.
Of 30'7 persons screened in
the foodhandlers' survey, 24 of
them required chest clinic fol-
low-up. No active cases of tub-
erculosis were found, but sev-
eral were sent to their family
physician for medical attention.
Two hundred and one persons
had attended chest clinics since
the last meeting.
The annual meeting of the as-
sociation will be held in Blyth,
May 30, with E. J, O'Brien as
speaker. Mr. O'Brien is the ex-
ecutive director of the Ontario
Tuberculosis Association, and
has just returned from Thailand,
where he spent some months
activating the TB Association
there.
The secretary reported that
she had addressed the Monkton
Women's Institute and had ap-
peared on CKNX-TV Wingham.
She also addressed the Blyth
Lions Club March 10.

A miscellaneous shower was
held S a turd ay evening at the
church in honour of Miss Frances
Skinner, bride-elect of next
month.
A short program consisted of
readings by Mrs. Allen Johns,
mock wedding by Mrs. Howard
Pym as minister, Miss Shirley
Jaques as the groom "Mr, Fulla
Prunes" and Miss Brenda Skin-
ner as the bride "Miss Ima Nutt".
The Johns' sisters, Misses Mar-
garet, Elaine, Janice and Eleanor
sang two numbers. Miss Sharon
Batten favoured with two guitar
selections and Joan and Bryan
Pym sang two duets. Miss Mar-
garet Johns read the address and
Misses Sandra and Brenda Skin-
ner brought in the gifts on a
wagon. Miss Anne JOhn8 made
an apron from the bows off the
gifts arid gave it to Frances. Miss
Marilyn Johns, Miss Janet Skin-
ner and Miss Elaine Johns con-
ducted a game and lunch was
served.

WI HEARS HISTORY
Mrs. W. D. Mack gave an
interesting and humorous report
on Crediton's beginning from the
purchase of land and its sub-
divisions at the Crediton WI
meeting last Wednesday evening.
She included minutes of early
town meetings and showed that
the first Crediton WI was formed
in 1919.
Mrs. Ruby Molitor showed her
pictures from the 17 countries
which she visited on her trip
this past summer. Mrs. Molitor
was thanked by Mrs. Mack.
Mrs. Clayton Sims chaired the
program. The motto "Memory
is a wonderful thing if you know
how to pack it" was discussed
by Mrs. Sam King. A quartet of

Centralia Church Men
discuss church union
RCAF Centralia hosts
Broomball Tournament.
RCAF Centralia was the scene
of a Broomball Tournament on
the March 19th weekend when
teams from RCAF Stations Ray-
more, Clinton, FOYmOunt, Trent-
on, Camp Borden, and Centralia
vied for honours.
To the less informed broom-
ball is a game where a version
of the common house broom is
converted to cudgel and used as
a ball bat and hockey stick to
propel the "puck". The "puck"
is a ball the Size of a voileyball,
and the game is played on ice
(no skates) with rules similar to
hockey.

The meeting of the Centralia
and Whalen United Church Men
was held Friday night in the
Centralia church with in at-
tendance.
The meeting was opened by
William R. Essery, president
and devotions were takenby Ken-
neth Hodgins and Lloyd Morgan,
The next meeting will be the
closing banquet to be served in
the Whalen United church Friday,
April 29.
Two duet numbers were sung by
Ray Mills and Norman Wainer,
Exeter, accompanied by Mrs.

servicemen took part in the two
day tournament. A double elimi-
nation schedule with a total of ten
games was run off with RCAF
Raymore garnering four straight
wins to literally "slip" off with
the Championship. Following the
games a Banquet was held on the
station at which time the official
RCAF Recreation "Phoenix"
Crests and the RCAF Centralia
Broomball Trophy were present-
ed to the Raymore team by the
Commanding Officer.

ity singing was led by Ray Mills
With Norman Wolper at the piano.
Eric Atwood expressed the thanks
of those present to the speakers
and also the singers from Exeter.
Lunch was served by the men
assisted by a few ladies who
were thanked by president
"Bill" Essery.

CREDITON CUTIES
The third meeting of the Credi-
ton Cuties was held at the Com-
munity Centre Saturday March
19 with all 23 members and four
leaders present.
Notes were taken on tie dyeing,
scarves and care of scarves.
Club 1 took added notes on hats
and their care while Club 2 did
a sample of tie dyeing. Both
clubs practised doing a rolled
hem and received samples of
material giving the width and
cost.
Club 1 entertained Club 2 and
served them lunch.

Word was received that F/L
John Ayres whose wife was the
former Elaine Fahrner of Credi-
ton had run into mechanical prob-
lems with his plane but had
ejected safely over Bavaria. He
and his family have been sta-
tioned in Germany with the Can-
adian Forces there.
