To Customers Of
HAY MUNICIPAL TELEPHONE
SYSTEM
The Subscribers of the Township of Hay Municipal Tele-
phone System are aware of the successful conversion of the
Grand Bend and Zurich exchanges to dial operation and the
subsequent improvement of service at both those exchanges.
Continuing on the System's Improvement Program, subscriber
approval was received at the 1965 Annual Meeting to convert
Dashwood exchange to dial operation. The cost of this project
required the issue of debentures, for capital, which it is in-
tended to repay over a 20-year period. In order to comply with
requirements it is necessary to establish and have approved
rates, which will become effective at date of Conversion of
Dashwood exchange to dial operation, which is anticipated to
be late 1966.
The rates below will become effective only at cut-over
date and include extended Area Service to Exeter exchange.
This means that after conversion there will be no toll charge
to Exeter nor will Exeter residents pay a toll charge on
their calls to Dashwood. This same free service will continue
to exist to and from Grand Bend and Zurich exchange with no
limit on the number of such free calls. The rates below for
which we apply are for the Dashwood exchange only and free
service to Exeter is to and from the Dashwood exchange only.
Application has been made to the Ontario Telephone
Service Commission for authority to make the following
charges for the telephone service in the Dashwood Exchange
area as at conversion of this exchange to dial operation.

will apply only within the Base Rate Area, which is defined as
being within the limits of the Police Village of Dashwood.
If individual or two-party line service is required beyond
the above limits there will be an additional charge for extra
mileage of forty-five cents a month for each 1/4 mile or
fraction thereof for an individual line and twenty-five cents a
month for each 1/4 mile or fraction thereof for each party on

made to the Commission with respect to this application should,
therefore, be submitted on or before March 18th, 1966, and
addressed to the Chairman, Ontario Telephone Service Com-
mission, 1001 Yonge Street, Toronto 7, Ontario.

played an exhibition game against
our girls at SHDHS Wednesday
March 2. Norwell seniors won
33-27. It was a tune-up game
for WOSSA.
Saturday, March 5, SHDHS sen-
ior girls travelled to Tillsonburg
for their first WOSSA play-off
game. Our girls lost 39-29 in
their first game against London
South. But considering that Lon-
don South has won the WOSSA
basketball championship for the
past five years, our girls put
forth a very good effort. Con-
gratulations girls and perhaps

The Grade 11 and 12 posture

For the first time at SHDHS,
to my knowledge, we are having
a chocolate bar campaign. It's
purpose is to subsidize the pro-
duction and larger yearbook this
year. The campaign will offi-

and will continue for the next
seven days. The chocolate bars
are pure milk chocolate with al-
monds and they are 5(4 each.
The bars also have the school
crest on the wrapper. So let's

council. The second highest can-
didate will act as Deputy Mayor.
Besides the council head, each
ward will vote for and elect two
councillors, one male and one
female. Once again, for the first
time, a dependent wife or wife
of a DND employee, living in
Huron Park can hold the position
as Councillor.
The Council itself is respon-
sible for the dependent recrea-
tional programme undertaken at
Huron Park. Summer activities,
encompassing swimming les-
sons, supervised playground ac-
tivities, Little League Ball and
Crusaders Cycle Club. The wint-
er programme provides direction
for twelve minor league Hockey
Teams, Figure Skating Club,
dancing classes for all ages, La-
dies Fitness Classes and spon-
sors the Children's Christmas
Party and Winter Carnival. Cubs,
Scouts, Brownies and Guides and
the Teen Town are year round
activities.
Financial revenue to operate
these activities are derived from
a voluntary monthly family as-
sessment of $1.00.

Huron Park, residential hous-
ing area of RCAF Station Cen-
tralia, will conduct their election
for the Huron Park Council on
Monday, March 14. Huron Park
has a population of 1300 with over
700 eligible to vote.
For the first time, the Mayor
and Deputy Mayor of the Coun-
cil will be elected by popular
vote. Previously, the Mayor was
an appointee. Candidates for
Mayor were selected last week-
end by polling each of the six
wards. Each ward selected a no-
minee and the interested candid-
ates will compete for the "Chief
Magistrate's Office". The nomi-
nee polling the greatest number
of votes will naturally be the

Rural Learners
Fairfield Rural Learners met
at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Ted
Lamport with 21 members at-
tending.
It is known that the condition
of Canada's poor, particularly the
Indians and Eskimos in the north-
ern regions of Canada, compare
with the most serious pockets of
poverty in Southeast Asia. For
example, life expectancy of an
Eskimo male is just over twenty
years in Canada, while the life
expectancy of a male in other
parts of Canada is 67 years.
The question under discussion
was what can be done through
programs of education and re-
location to help this situation.
The opinion of the members was
that any assistance r e nd ered
should be in their own environ-
ment. It would not be feasible
to attempt to relocate, as the
climate for many would not be
suitable.
Members of tribes could be
educated and returned to teach
better nutrition and better ways
of life.
The next meeting will be at
the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rus-
sell Schroeder.
Will conduct survey

Guest caller
for square dance
Lawrence Mitchell of St. Marys
was guest caller for the Exeter
Promenaders last night.
Last week dancers from the
Stratford Square Dance Club paid
a visit to the Promenaders. They
reclaimed their club banner
which had been taken by the
Exeter club at a recent area
dance. Promenaders' banner is
at a club in London and will be
retrieved soon on a visitation.
The banner "stealing" is to pro-
vide a reason for clubs to visit
each other, and promotes friend-
ly relations between all the clubs
in the SWOSDA area, besides
providing fun and hi-jinks in the
taking of them.
Saturday night three squares
of Promenaders went to London
to dance with the Squarenaders,
whose caller is local jeweller,
Earl Campbell. One square con-
sisted of an entire family, the
