The chill of winter
The crops are in and with snow and cold weather gripping the country many farms such as this seem
deserted. With weather such as experienced during the last few days most farming activities are car-
ried out inside. The complete change caught many people by surprise as reports of just over one week
ago indicate some trees were budding, bees were flying and a dandelion blossom was picked.

the Itchy Four, the Plumbers have
taken a two point lead In the Ex-
eter Legion Mixed Dart League.
The Plumhers now have a total
Of 38 points while the second
place Sharpshooters have 36.
The third place Blue Birds who
blanked the Champs 5-0 on Fri-
day night have 32 points while the
Featherflights, Cleaners and
Itchy Four are all tied for fourth
with 30 points. The Legionnaires
are currently in fifth place with
27 points after their 3-2 win over
the Featherflights while the
Champs are last with Vi points.

LEGION WINS
The Exeter Legion dart team
edged the Airmen A squad by a
6-4 score on Wednesday night
but they still trail the league
leading Corporal A team by six
points in the Centralia Inter-
Mess Dart- League. By virtue of
their 6-4 victory over the Air-
men B club, the Corporals now
have 78 points while the Legion
squad has 72.
In the third game of the night

for L. Hodgson
Lloyd Burton Hodgson, 72,
formerly of Centralia, died in
London Wednesday, January 12
after a lengthy illness.
He farmed near Fairfield in
Stephen Township retiring to
Centralia. Mrs. Hodgson pre-
deceased him in November 1953.
He is survived by one son,
Reg. of Waterloo, one grand-
daughter Kay Hodgson, three
brothers, Earl of Ridgetown,Ce-
cil of Toronto and Herman of
Exeter.
Funeral services will be held
Friday, January 14 at 2 pm at the
Hopper Hockey funeral home.

ed to push the first place Bank
Boys for the lead in the Exeter
Rec Hockey League as they
trounced the third place Old Tim-
ers by an 8-2 score last Thurs-
day night. The Bankers who now
have 11 points and lead Crediton
by two had little trouble in de-
feating Graham and Graham in the
first game of the night as they

The Exeter Squirts evened
their record at 5-5 last Saturday
when they suffered a 3-1 setback
at the hands of Lambeth. The
locals defeated Lambeth earlier
in the season but came up with a
subpar performance on Saturday.
Exeter took a temporary 1-0
lead in the first period but the
winners eventually tied the score.
Steve Schroeder took passes from
Steve Harrison and John Vriese
for the only Exeter goal,
Strathroy will supply the op-
position for the locals in Lucan
next Saturday afternoon.
