Fairfield Rural Learners meet Fairfield Rural Learners met Monday night at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Neil with 23 members present. The radio broadcast on Farm Magazine was on "water" and this will be the subject each week in January. Until recently an adequate sup- ply of rural water was considered to be in the amount required to grow good crops, water the live- stock, and perhaps operate the water-using home facilities. With urbanization the role of rural land as water storage has become more important. How can land be developed to hold more water? Farm ponds are a good source for more water. Moderate cultivation of the land helps too. What is the effect on farm income? Farm income is increased. Is there a need for more re- gional intervention in water stor- age and control? With all the con- servation authorities in this lo- cality it would appear there is no need for more in this region. The next meeting will be at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Rus- sell King. 704,4f toftica M rifg if': .A Mr. & Mrs. Bill Johnson and boys were Wednesday guests with Mr. & Mrs. Cleve Pullman and boys, with Mr. & Mrs. Norman Tripp on New Years Day and with Mr. & Mrs. Bill Johns, Thames Road Sunday.
