The Elimville UCW met Sat-
urday afternoon when they enter-
tained the Messengers, Cradle
Roll and mothers.
Mrs. Wm. Routly and Mrs.
Gilbert Johns were in charge of
the program. Santa called at
the close with gifts for the child-
ren.
Mr. & Mrs. Delmer Skinner
entertained a large number of
friends Saturday evening at Elim-
ville Hall. Euchre was played
and winners were; ladies high,
Mrs. Gilbert Johns; ladies low,
Miss Doris Elford; gents high,
Mr. Ross Skinner; gents low, Mr.
Fred Long. A bow contest was
won by Mr. Maynard Margison.
Mrs. Philip Johns and Mr. Lorne
Elford entertained with several
piano numbers. A smorgasbord
luncheon was enjoyed.
The Elimville UCW catered
to the Exeter District Co-Op of-
ficials and wives banquet at Elim-
ville Church Monday evening.
The Elimville CGIT vesper
service will be held Sunday even-
ing Dec. 12 at the Thames Road
Church.
The Sunday School Christmas
concert will be at the church

The discussion centred around
the report that doctors, dentists,
ministers and teachers shun ser-
vice in the country because they
may face lower pay, slower job
advancement and fewer friends
with similar background and in-
terests.
As far as this community is
concerned the members express-
ed themselves as well satisfied
with the professional services
that are available such a short
distance away. Dentists are more
scarce thaA other professional
men.
The next meeting, December
13, will be held at the home of
Mr. and Mrs, Wellington Haist.
On December 20 a Christmas
party will be held with a com-
mittee, Mr. and Mrs. George
Hepburn and Jack, Mr. and Mrs.
Maurice Haist, Mr. and Mrs.

mortality in Canada was reduced
from a rate of 94 deaths per
1,000 live births to 26; as a re-
sult of these reductions, in 1963

The employment picture
throughout most of Hurpn County
continued to reflect improved
conditions during the month of
November 1965 over the same
period a year ago, according to
figures released today by the
National Employment Office at
Goderich.
At the end of November 1965,
259 persons were registered for
employment with the Goderich
NES compared to 296 at the end
of the same month in 1964.
Mr. C. M. Jutras, manager of
the National Employment Office,
stated that job opportunities con-
tinued relatively good despite
the usual seasonal decline in
agricultural and canning activi-
