Saddle Club was presented with the challenge trophy at the regular
meeting of the club Friday evening. Len Veri who donated the trophy
is shown at the right making the presentation to Mr. Brady. The
trophy must be won by the same competitor three years before it

The first fall meeting of the
Happy Doubles Club was held
Wednesday evening in the church
basement,
With the room tastefully dec-
orated with horns of plenty, fresh
fruits and vegetables, the wor-
ship service was conducted by
Mr. Arnold Cann assisted by
Mrs. Cann and Mrs. Floyd Ste-
wart,
President Mrs. Murray Daw-
son welcomed Rev.. Mr. Boa to the
club.
Guest speaker Rev. Hugh Wil-
son commented and showed slides
on his recent trip to the United
Kingdom.
An interesting game, Mr. and
Mrs. was played fashioned on the
TV program with most of the
couples participating with Mr.
and Mrs. Edwin Miller winning
the contest.
Partners were chosen for lunch
served by Mr, and Mrs. Arnold
Cann and Mr. and Mrs. Floyd
Stewart.
ANNIVERSARY SERVICE
The annual anniversary ser-
vice was held Sunday morning
with Rev. Andrew Boa as the min-
ister. Mr. Gil Burrows of Ex-
e te r was guest soloist. The
church was decorated with yellow
and white chrysanthemums.

vice and spent the day with rela-

A unique reunion of three
chums of former years; Vera
Elston (the former Vera Da v s);
Vera Neil of California (the form-
er Vera Ogden) and VeraSquires
Granton (the former Vera Hodg-
son) met with their husbands at
the home of Mr. & Mrs. Frank
Squires, Granton, recently. The
evening was spent reminiscing
old times when the three were
playmates and also Sunday School
scholars of St. Patrick's Church
Saintsbury.

ANNIVERSARY SERVICES
Dashwood Evangelical UB
church celebrated the 113th an-
niversary Sunday. Rev. R alp h
Waugh, a minister of the United
Church of Canada and pastor at
Guelph, was the pest speaker
for both services.
He was accompanied by his
wife, the former Hope Roppel,
and his father-in-law, Rev. Rep-
pel, a former pastor from 1935
to 1941. Rev. Roppel gave greet-
ings and best wishes in the morn-
ing service. The services were
under the leadership of Rev. M.
J. James. The choir sang at both
services with Miss Mary Lee
Holienbeck of Clinton, guest solo-
ist in the evening.
SHARE-A-DISH SUPPER
Monday evening the EUB con-
gregation joined in an anniver-
sary fellowship s ha r e-a-dish
supper. Following the meal Mrs.
M. James lead in a sing song.
A film, "The story of sixchurch-
es" was shown. Certificates of
those who were members of the
Century Club were presented.
Those who were members 50
years or more or those who gave
active leadership for 25 years or
more were eligible.
L WML RALLY
The Fall Rally of the Lutheran
Women's Missionary League was
held at Tavistock Monday even-
ing with 14 from Dashwood Lu-
theran church attending. The Mit-
chell zone delegate Mrs. Jack
Ryan, gave her report on the
International convention at San
Diego, California and also show-
ed slides.
The district president, Miss
Edna Schierholtz, of Kitchener
reported on district work and
spoke briefly on the convention.
A fellowship hour was enjoyed.
LLL RALLY
The Lutheran Laymen's Lea-
gue Rally was held in Zion Lu-
theran church Sunday October 24
for all members of the Stratford
zone with the theme, "Man at
work in God's World". The La-
dies' Aid served the supper.
90TH BIRTHDAY
The family of Henry Hoffman
celebrated his 90th birthday Sun-
day,Oct. 24 with a dinner at the
Dashwood hotel. Present for the
occasion were Mrs. Nor man
Evans and son Tom of Richmond
Hill; Mr. and Mrs. Mervyn Tie-
man; Mr. and Mrs. Harry Hoff-

4-H CLUB
The fifth meeting of the Dash-
wood 4-H girls club No. 1 'Wash-
wood Sleeping Beauties” was held
at the home of Mrs. Paul Watson
with eight members andthe lead-
ers Mrs. John Rader and Mrs.
Rudolph Miller present.
Notes and demonstrations were
given on corded piping, bias bind-
ing, and how to cut a bias.

nesday when they entertained the
