BEGIN NEW PROGRAM The New Church School Pro- gram is being inaugurated this week at Trivitt Memorial Church. For most of the children this will involve classes during the week rather than on Sundays. The only Sunday classes will be the two senior ones held prior to the church service. Three main reasons for this change are that, under the old system, teachers were deprived of their right to regular worship: all classes had to use the hall at the same time, so that teachers had to shout above each other: and the time available for the lessons was too short. The new classes with their teachers will be as follows: Pre-S c h o o l & Kindergarten, Saturdays at 10:30 am with Mrs. J. P. Gandon and Mrs. Harold Sissons; Grades 1 & 2, Wednes- days at 4:15 pm with Mrs. Bruce Sturrock and Mrs. Harry Page; Grades 3, 4 & 5 Thursdays at 4:15 pm with Rev. J. P. Gandon and Mrs. C. V. Barrett; Grades 6 & '7, Sundays at 10:00 am with Mrs. Gerold Barker; Grades 8 & 9, Sundays at 10:00 am, Mr. R. I. McDowell. This group ap- pointed him as producer of the freshman variety show. The show will feature profess- ional entertainers and will be performed before an audience of approximately 2,500 to 3,000 stu- dents. John is no stranger to organi- zation, He started in Exeter when he attended SHDHS. While he was in grade 10 he and three ether stu- dents organized the first teen town here and since that time the group has carried out numerous projects. The annual freshmen show op- erates on a budget of approxi- mately $650 and uses all Can- adian talent. There will be one rock and roll group, two folk sing- ing groups as well as on campus talent in the show. A highlight of the show will be apolitical satire in view of the forthcoming federal elections. As soon as John completes the work of this show he will plunge into another task which will keep him busy after classes. He and Terry Patterson of Owen Sound have been appointed to be in charge of orientation and initi- ation for Huron College which is part of the University. 4 A
