Brownies, Shirley Smale, Car-
men Currie, Pauline Allan,
Julie Heal and Cathy Fuss,
received their wings and flew
up into the Guide Company.

Commissioner Mrs. Thom as
Lavender. A welcome was ex-
tended to all by Guide Captain

F. Currie gave the opening

The community auction sale
held in the local arena Friday
evening was very successful.
It was well attended with buying
very brisk.
The committee in charge of
this project, Trevor Wilson,
P. L. McNaughton, and Ed Cor-
bett, were very pleased with
the sale and express their
thanks to all those who donated
and to those who donated their
commission on articles sold at
this auction. Ed Corbett was
auctioneer.
Proceeds unavailable at
press time will be donated to
the minor athletic association.
Rev. Peter Moore officiated
at the double ring ceremony in
St. Paul's Cathedral, London,
when Elizabeth Georgina par-
ker, formerly of Hensall, ex-
changed vows with Frederick
William Brown.
The bride is the daughter of
Mrs. William Parker, London,
and the late William Parker,
Hensall. Mr. and Mrs. William

Deitz was hostess for the meet-
ing of Hensall Kinettes with a
100% attendance.
President Mrs. John Baker
announced that she had accepted
the jr bulletin award on behalf
of the club at District Conven-
tion in Buffalo. Vice-president
Mrs. Wm. Fuss reported a
successful rummage sale. The
club is sending a birthday gift
to their Italian adopted girl
Rosalba. The club will operate
two refreshment booths at the
annual spring fair here June 16.
Mrs. Wm. Clement won the
raffle and the next meeting will
be held June 9 at the home of
Mrs. Jack Drysdale.

ender, Mr. and Mrs. Jack Lav-

Convocation of the University
of Waterloo Saturday, May 29.

Waterloo with a Bachelor of
Applied Science degree in

Guides and Brownies. Lois Sim-
mons gave an interesting ac-
count of her trip to Owen Sound
May 16 when she waspresented
with her Gold Cord certificate.
Mrs. Earle Rowe, president of
the L.A. spoke to the mothers
present on how the funds were
used for Brownies and Guides,
and it was decided to hire a
bus for the Brownie Revel at
Centralia June 10. Miss Mac-
Millan and Mrs. Lavender both
spoke on the responsibilities of
being a Patrol Leader and help-
ing the Brownie adjust to her
new role as a Guide, and Camp-
ing.
The evening came to a close
with the presentation of flowers
by Dorothy Skea to Miss Mac-
Millan on behalf of the Guides
and Brownies, and Brown Owl
Mrs. Robert Cook was pre-
sented with a china Brownie cup
and saucer by Shirley Smale
and Judith Mickle in apprecia-
tion of all the work she has
done for the Hensel]. Brownie
Pack. Lunch was served by the
Guides and Brownies.

Pair celebrate
25 years wed
Mr. and Mrs. Leonard Noakes
celebrated their silver wedding
anniversary with a dinner in
the Legion Hall Saturday, May
29. They were married on May
24, 1940.
Members of the Noakes and
Sangster families were present
from London and Hensall and
the couple received many beau-
tiful gifts also many congratula-
tory messages and cards.
Mr. Dave Sangster was mas-
ter of ceremonies for the occa-
sion. A lovely three tiered wed-
ding cake adorned the head
table with flower arrangements
on either side. The evening
ended with dancing. Later the
guests were entertained at the
home of the celebrants,

the groom.
The bride, given in marriage
by her brother, Arthur Parker,
chose a floor-length gown of
shimmering ice crepe fashioned
with long lily point sheath
sleeves and scoop neckline, both
appliqued with motifs of French
Chantilly lace. The midriff was
styled with a cummerbund of
scalloped lace and led to a
slimeline sheath skirt wrapped
in a spray of matching scalloped
lace from above the hemline.
The gown was highlighted at the
back by a detachable overskirt
from the sides with bouffant
fullness flowing into a chapel
train and caught at the back
waist with a candy-box bow. A
lace pillbox headdress held her
pure silk illusion finger-tip veil
and she carried a cascade of
white orchids and ivy.
Mrs. Clarence Ruston, Strat-
ford, attended her sister as
matron of honor and brides-
maids were Mrs. Bill Burnett,
London, sister of the groom,
and Miss Vera Dietrich, St.
Thomas. They were gowned
alike in floo r-length sheath
dresses of turquoise peau de
sole. The flower girl, Tracy
Lynn Ruston, niece of the bride,
was gowned in white peau de
sole. Ringbearer was Todd
leartsburg, Stratford.
Groomsman was Jim Brown,
London, brother of the groom,
and ushering were Bill Parker,
Hensall, brother of the bride,
and Jim Perry, London.
For travelling to Montreal,
the bride donned a two-piece
navy suit with navy and white
accessories and white orchid
corsage.
The couple will live in Lon-
don.
