PHONE 235-2131 EXETER HENSALL TIMES-ADVOCATE COOK POQK 1961 Here's. a colorful and tasty calico salad Jeanne Crocker 9(44e CALICO SALAD 1 can (15oz) yellow wax beans 1 can (15oz) green wax beans 1 can (15oz) red kidney beans 1 can (15oz) lima beans (op- tional) (Drain all these well) 1/2 cup chopped celery 1 tbl chopped green onion 1/2 cup red and green pepper 2 small tomatoes cut in wedges. Combine above ingredients and set aside. DRESSING 1/2 cup salad oil 1/2 cup white sugar 1/2 cup vinegar 1 tsp salt Mix well and add to salad in- gredients, Chill 10 hours. Serves 8, Mrs. Homer Russell RR 1 Exeter SALAD DRESSING 2 eggs beaten 1 cup white sugar 1 tbl (rounded) mustard 1 tbl (rounded) corn starch 1 cup water 1 cup white wine vinegar Bring water and vinegar to a boil in a 4 qt. saucepan and add the other ingredients which have been mixed well. If these ingredients make too thick a mixture add a little cold water before adding to hot mixture. After it thickens when added to hot water and vinegar let stand on hot element which has been turned off stirring oc- casionally (this prevents dress- ing from separating). This dressing may be stored in covered jar in refrigerator for some time. Mrs. Stewart Blackwell RR 2 Hensall 12-I 'Nbtee prbie BRIDAL SALAD 1 strawberry jello (double size) 2 cups boiling water 1 cup cold water 1 20-oz tin crushed pineapple (drained) 1/2 cup sour cream 5 tbl miracle whip salad dress- ing Dissolve the double jello in 2 cups boiling water; add cold water. Chill until it reaches the syrupy stage. Do not let it set too stiff. Add pineapple, well-drained, blend sour cream and salad dressing together and add to above mixture. Blend well. Brush a two-quart mold with -I PRESTO! MAKE BATHTUB RING DISAPPEAR! melted butter or oil and chill well before putting salad mix- ture in. Chill well. Do not dip in hot water to unmold. Loosen around edges and turn out on bed of lettuce. It is a delicate pink in color and I have concocted this recipe to use at a bridal shower or dinner. Fold in fruit. Chill until partially set; add cream and cheese. Fold in jello mix- ture. Put in fancy mould or square pan— will serve 10 generously.
