truck (a "Ruggles"), to the
truck bought in 1945 which now
serves as standby-equipment.
The modern mutual fire area
truck, seen above, replaced it
as the principal machine in
1961.
Brigade chiefs during that
time have included Jim Weekes,
Jack Norry and Bill Chambers.
Both senior men s ay the
town's worst fire during this
period was the blaze which de-
stroyed the barns behind Main
St, about 45 years ago. Started
by some boys who lit matches
to look at some beagle pups in
one of the buildings, the fire
destroyed barns owned by Bill
Statham of the bake shop, Char-
