The twist contest, now the
feature of Exeter Kinsmen's
dance jamborees, attracted a
record number of entries at the
club's annual fall event Friday
night in the arena,
Winning couple in the com-
petition was Joan MacNaughton
and Bob Broderick, whose en-
ergetic contortions caught the
eyes of the judges.
A former resident of Exeter,
Miss MacNaughton now lives in
London, Bob Broderick, son of
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Broderick,
Andrew St., is going to barbers'
school in London.
Other winners were Sharon
Sommerville and Ches McDon-
ald; Carol Gackstetter and Bill
Harburn.

ers, a young area group. Sec-
ond prize went to the Country
Cousins and third to the "Un-

Judges for the twist contest

half hour marathon was pro-

the tour when three buses left
Exeter on Friday for Detroit
to tour the Detroit Museum
and then to visit the TV broad-
cast for elementery schools in
the city of Detroit. The greater
majority there have this new
project piped in. They also visi-
ted the Zoo and later attended
a banquet at the Roma Hall,
Eighty teachers attended.

Mrs. Waiter Coursey at the
Craigholme on Tuesday.

Hospital after a lengthy illness,
His wife, the late Bertha Oliver,
died in 1960.
He is survived by one son,
Eugene Bice of Windsor, three
daughters, Mrs. Wm. (Marion)
Leadley of Hazelton, B.C., Mrs.
David (Margaret) Butler of
Guelph, Mrs. Charles (Betty)
Coughlin at home. One son Carl
Bice predeceased him in 1957.
One sister, Mrs. Greeta Wil-
liams, and two brothers, Gar-
land Bice of Detroit and Mere-
dith Bice of Charlevoix, Mich.
also survive and seven grand-
children.
He was the son of the late
Eli Bice and Ella Mae Steven-
son Bice of a family of seven.
He was predeceased by three
brothers, Perry, Harold and
Enson.
He was born Oct, 28, 1890
in McGillivray township and had
always lived there and farmed.
He was a member of the Clan-
deboye United Church.
Interment took place in the
family plot in St. James,ceme-
tery.
Pallbearers were Roy Cun-
ningham, Jim Cunningham,
Harold Lynn, Lloyd Lynn, Al-
bert Gilmour and Alan Hill.
Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cough-
lin entertained relatives from a
distance and friends following
the funeral: Mr. and Mrs. Gar-
land Bice and Mrs. GreetaWil-
Hams of Detroit, Mr. John Ol-
iver and son Harold of London,
Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bice of Ailsa
Craig, Mr. Eugene Bice, Wind-
sor, Mr. and Mrs. David But-
ler of Guelph.

The meeting of the Guild and
WA of St. James Church was
held at the church on Thursday
afternoon. Mrs. Jim Cunning-
ham, president, presided.

During the business session
plans were laid to serve re-
freshments on the grounds for
plowmen and spectators at the
Middlesex plowing match, Oct-
ober 19 at the 3. H, and Clare
Paton farm No, 4 Highway, one
mile north of Clandeboye.
