R. J. McKenzie
dies in hospital
The death of Robert John
McKenzie, 50, a well known and
respected citizen of the village,
occurred at St. Joseph's HosPi-
tal, London, on Friday evening,
July 19 where he had been a
patient for the past three weeks.
A native of.Kippen he has re-
sided in Hensall for over 20
years and for many years was
employed with Hyde Brothers.
Surviving are his wife, the
former Laurene Schwalm, his
mother, Mrs. Hugh McLachlan
Glenn of Hensall, Ray,Toronto;
Ronald and Jack at home, four
grandchildren, Gordon, Tom-
my, Lorraine, and Ruth Ellen,
children of Mr. and Mrs. Glenn
McKenzie; two brothers, Rev.
Andrew McKenzie of Acton;
Phillip, Tuxford, Sask; two sis-
ters, Mrs. Urbin Ducharme,
Brussels; Mrs. Howard Currie,
Clinton.
Public funeral services lar-
gely attended were held from
the Bonthron funeral home Mon-
day, July 22 at 2 pm conducted
by Rev. D.J. Lane of Clinton.
Burial was in Baird's cemetery.
Bearers were Wilson. Allan,
Garnet Allan, John Skea, Jim
Venner, Stewart Bell, W.J. Ca-
meron.
Huron MPP in talks with automobile firm
Highways Minister C. S. MacNaughton and other Ontario government officials met recently with
high-ranking officials of the peugeot Automobile company of France in preliminary discussions on
the possibility of setting up manufacturing operations in Ontario and purchasing Canadian-made
automobile parts. The Peugeot company is the largest privately-owned French exporting company
and one of the two oldest automobile firms in the world. It already has plants in Belgium, Australia,
New Zealand, South Africa, Argentina and other countries and hopes to begin operations in Canada

Mrs. S. Glazier
dies at age 95
Funeral services for the late
Mrs. Sarah Elizabeth Glazier
were conducted by Rev. Ross
MacDonald at the Beattie fune-
ral home, Clinton, on Monday,
July 22 with burial in Clinton
cemetery.
Mrs. Glazier who, on May 22
of this year celebrated her 96th
birthday, died on Friday, July
19 at the home of her daughter
and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs.
Asa peeves with whom she had
made her home for the past 10
years. Until her death Mrs.
Glazier was bright and active
and possessed a sweet disposi-
tion.
Born in Hullett Township she
is survived by two daughters,
Mrs. Asa (Gertrude) Deeves,
Hensall; Mrs. Elwyn (Edith)
Pickard, Dunclas; four sons,
Herbert W., Stratford; Alfred,
William, and Harold, all of
Clinton; one sister, Mrs. Tho-
mas (Bertha) Pollard, Kinburn.

Mrs. Wm. D. Duncan of Miami
has been visiting at her home at
Brucefield and with her father
Mr. John Murdock, who is a
patient in St. Joseph's Hospital
in London, Mr. and Mrs. W. N.
Murdock of Dundas, and Mr. and
Mrs. Stan Rumble of Toronto,
also visited their father in Lon-
don over the weekend.
Miss Joan Hopkinson of
Lion's Head is spending her
vacation with her grandparents,
Mr. and Mrs. N. E. Cook, and
with Mr. and Mrs. Douglas
Cook, Beth, Cathy, and Jenni-
fer, and with Mr. and Mrs. Ro-
bert Cook and Carolyn.
Mr. and Mrs. J. R. Rathwell
and sons Robby and Teddy of
Lindsay, also Mrs. Stella Sleep-
er of Detroit, Mich. were recent
guests with Mrs. Fred Rathwell.
Mrs. Clarence Reid of Hen-
sall won $108 at a bingo game
in Clinton last Tuesday night,
which was sponsored by the Fish
and Game Club.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Munn spent
the weekend in Perthvi siting
with Mr. and Mrs. Harold Munn.
Mrs. E. Ellis returned to
Clinton after spending two
weeks with her son-in-law and
daughter, Mr. and Mrs. Lorne
Chapman and sons.
Mr. Earl Bell and friend of
Toronto visited over the week-
end with the former's parents,
Mr. and Mrs. Glenn E. Bell.
Wayne Corbett visited dur-
ing the past week with his grand-
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Peter
L. McNaughton.
Mrs. Edna Corbett visited
over the weekend with her son-
in-law and daughter, Mr. and
Mrs. James Sangster and Brad-
ley and Miss Patsy Jones.
Miss Reina Stephenson was
taken by ambulance to Clinton
Hospital Thursday evening with
a heart condition.
Mr. and Mrs. Harold Parker

were recent visitors with Mr.
and Mrs. Russell Keyes at Mit-
chell.
Dr. Wm. T. Joynt, London,

The first week of the Hensall
playground was quite success-
ful. A large turnout of children
was engaged in various activi-
ties.
Thursday, July 18 was an
"On Wheels" parade in which
about 100 childrenparticipated.
After decorating the bicycles,
tricycles, wagons, and even a
lawnmower and wheelbarrow,
the children paraded down the
main street where they were
judged.

week. The children participated
in various races. Because of the
weather these events were held
in the arena and not all the
contests were held.

This week, July 22-27, will
be circus week. A small circus
will be held at the arena on
Thursday, with the acts to be
provided by the children. Friday
of this week a pet show will be
held with prizes for the various
kinds of pets.
The week of, July 29-Aug. 2
will be held,as Hobo Week. A
costume parade will be held
Thursday, August 1. Friday,
August 2, will be Field Day,
also included in this will be a
soap box derby.
The children will be going
swimming Friday afternoons, if
the weather permits, at Sea-
forth, and will be meeting at
the arena at 1.30 pm. Drivers
will be needed to transport the
children.

Mrs. Jim McGregor, who has
been a patient in ClintonHospi-
tal, returned home on Sunday.
Mr. Bill Brown Jr, 20, who
has been a patient in St. Joseph's
Hospital, London, for the past 13
weeks recovering from serious
injuries suffered in a car acci-
dent returned to his home in
Seaforth on Sunday. Bill is well
known here having lived here
before going to reside with his
parents and sister in Seaforth.
Mr. and Mrs. Ross Veal and
family of Exeter have taken up
residence in their new home just
completed in York Crescent
subdivision.
Mr. and Mrs. Leroy Coleman
of Rondeau Park spent a couple
of days with Mrs. Coleman's
parents, Mr. and Mrs. Milton
Russell.
Mr. and Mrs. Sam Rannie are
spending their vacation at
Schade View, Lake Huron.
Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Little spent
a day in Detroit recently.
Mr. and Mrs. Sim Roobol
visited Sunday with Mr. and
Mrs. R. Linstra at Ripley.
Mr. Clendon Christie, who
has been a patient at Clinton
Public Hospital wher' he under-
went surgery on his knee, re-
turned home Sunday.
Mr. and Mrs. Wm. Mickle and
family have returned home from
three week's vacation at Sauble
Beach.
Mr. and Mrs. Alex Mousseau
and Mrs. Luella Willert are en-
joying a motor trip to Western
Canada.

Mrs. B. Edwards
dies on vacation
Mrs. Basil Edwards, 82, a
resident of the village, died
suddenly on Monday, July 22,
while vacationing at Niagara-
on-the-Lake. Mrs. Edwards
was spending two weeks with
Mr. and Mrs. Mel Johnston of
St. Catharines, at their sum-
mer cottage.
She was an active member of
Hensall Women's Institute, and
Women's Missionary Society
and Ladies Aidof CarmelPres-
byterian Church.
The former Emily Morrison
she came to Hensall to live with
her parents in 1917, where she
has continued to reside with the
exception of a few years In
Toronto and Hay Township. Her
husband predeceased her four
years ago.
Surviving are a niece, Mrs.
Mel (Violet) Johnston, St. Ca-
tharines, a nephew, Clarence
Parke, RR 1 Zurich.
Resting at the Bonthron Fu-
neral Home, Hensall, where
public services will be held on
Thursday, July 25 at 2 pm with
Rev. Ross MacDonald officia-
ting. Burial will be in Hensall
Union cemetery.

sides with her sister, Mrs.

field, fell in the home andfrac-
tured her hip. She is a patient
in Clinton Public Hospital. Mrs.
