lady for a program which con-
sisted of a sing-song, solo by
Dianne McKay, instrumental by
Joan Sinclair; a solo by Debbie
Anderson and contests which
were conducted by Mrs. William
Workman and Mrs. Lloyd Coo-
per.
Phyllis was asked to sit M a
prettily decorated chair and an
address was read by Mrs. Ro-
nald McGregor. Gifts were pre-
sented by Ruth Anne and Bar-
bara McNichol and Joan Sinclair

At the open meeting of Kirk-
ton Horticultural Society in Ab-
erdeen Hall Mrs. Logan, Wood-
stock, district president, told
of the work done by various
societies and stressed the im-
portance of interesting young
people in horticulture. She dis-

books made by young people.
Mr. and Mrs. Kerr, Wood-
stock, showed pictures of flo-
wers and Mrs. Matson and Mrs.
Toppin gave a talk and demon-
stration on the different varie-
ties of spring bulbs and told of

BABY BAND PARTY
On Thursday afternoonn-
round 70 ladies and their child-
ren attended a baby band party
in the church basement.
Mrs. Reg Bodgert, one of the
leaders, led the warship service
assisted by Mru, Hugh Wilson
and Mrs. William Rohde, Igra,
liocigert told a story using the
flannel graph. The members. .of
the Baby Band brought their
mite boxes to the front and emp-
tied them in a large ler assist-
ed by the other leader Mrs.
Lorne Pesamore.

showed some very interesting

Mrs. Irene Ford spoke on her
trip to Jamaica. She told about
the islands and the people who
live there, There are one and a
half to two million peopleliving
on the island that is 15040
miles yet everything is clean.
Most of the people carry their
burdens on their head—children
carried pails of water, the wo-
men carried baskets of clothes
and meecarriedfive to six logs
tied together.
Mrs.. Ford said they saw no
baby buggies, no waggons or
toys for the people are very
poor but they are happy. She
visited the church where the
Queen had attended a service.
She showed straw articles and
other souvenirs she had brought
home.

On Saturday, May 25, Mrs.
George Frayne held atrousseau
tea in honor of her daughter,
Darlene, bride-elect of June 1.

Pouring tea in the afternoon
were Mrs. Margaret Hawkins,
