Sparks start church blaze Sparks from a pile of burning rubbish set fire to St. Pants Anglican Church Thursday af- ternoon but volunteer firemen kept the blaze from spreading. Two holes, each about 10 feet square, were burned through the roof. There was little smoke or water damage inside the church. Workmen who had torn down a barn on the unoccupied pro- perty east of the church were burning rubbish when winds carried sparks onto the church roof. Sparks at one time threatened the home of Ernmerson Smith, west of the church. Firemen soaked the Smith house with pails of water. Taylor and Mrs. Quance sang a duet accompanied by Mrs. A. Ross. Mrs. Ben Stoneman conducted the devotional assisted by Mrs. Russell Brock, Mrs. Taylor reported that a quilt had been completed and sold for $20. Those attending were informed that the sectional meeting would be held in Hensall UC in the fall. Parker dies in hospital Mrs. Emily (Hincks) Parker, 89, RR 1 Hensall died on Friday May 10 in South Huron Hospital, Exeter. She was the widow of Enoch Parker. Surviving are sons, Harold, RR 1 Hensall; Gordon, Exeter; Robert Keyes, Grand Bend; Russell Keyes, Mitchell; daugh- ter, Mrs. Edgar (Muriel) Cud- more, RR 1 Hensall, 19 grand- children and 17 great-grand- children; a sister, Mrs. Bertie McMurtrie, Hensall.
