W ould Negro
be accepted?
THOMPSONBy SUSAN
We have read many. newspaper articles about the dis-
:elimination against„ James Meredith when he entered Missis.
sinpi State University, To .assess local reaction, your reporter ma d e .a sur ve y among some of, the students of to find PIA their ideas about what would be the general reaction
of the students .if a .negro• entered_ our school.
Koren Finkbeiner,. Anywhere. be would .go. there
would be some students who would discriminate against him.
Jerry ,Drysdale, 13i. tie would be accepted, In other
schools in the area, such as Stratford, negroes have been ac-
cepted, so I don't see why he wouldn't 'he accepted as is
anyone else.
Judy .gesch, 100.: There
w
ould be some discrimination
but the majority of students wod accept, him,
Jim Neil, 1)B:. A lot of stndents would discriminate
against him,
Cathy Page, 13: Most of the students would bend too
far in making him welcome so much so that they would make
him feel uncomfortable and we would have done more harm
than if we had not accepted him at all,
Larry Willert,'911; I. think that he would be .accepted
because we have no prejudice against them here,
