MANY CHANGES IN COMMERCIAL
During the past few years many changes have taken
place in the commercial department. Two years ago, in 1960,
the typing classes were moved to room 216 which was then
the sewing room. The number of typewriters was increased
from 35 to 40, The new department headquarters was moved
to room 117, To help the students with their penmanship the
desks in that room are bigger than average. Form-fitting chairs
have been found very comfortable by the students,
For two years there have been three grade 10 typing
classes and for three years two grade 11 classes which take
typing.
On Friday, November 2, 42 students of the commercial
department journeyed to Toronto, They visited the Underwood
plant where they saw typewriters being manufactured. They
proceeded to downtown Toronto where some of the students
paid a visit to the Toronto Stock Exchange and Imperial Oil,

disappointed" with last week's
Manufacturers' Opportunity
show in Toronto although he
recognized it was a .success as far as the province was con-
cerned.
"We had expected to meet :a
lot of people considering the
establishment of new indus-

was an opportunity far existing
plants to see what new pro.
ducts they might be able to
maks! for Ontario industries,
Some On firms exhibited
thousands of component parts
for which they wished to find
Canadian suppliers. The object•
tive of the drive is to reduce
imports of :manufactured parts
and have them produced in
Ontario.
"From that standpoint, I:
understand it was quite suc.
.essful," said Mr, Turkey "I
believe some contracts were
signed before the. show was
over."
The industrial chairman was
one of five delegates from the
town. The caber four were
