The local Teen Town had its
Christmas dance on. Wednes-
day evening, Dec, 20 and it
proved to be a success. There
will be public skating as usual
Saturday evening and Sunday
afternoon.
There will be no Saturday
night dance this week but in-
stead there will be a New
Year's eve dance ,on Sunday
evening, the dance to start at
12:01. The doors will be open
at 11 p.m. for those who would
like to purchase tickets, Music
will be provided by the Can-
adian Playboys. 'We look for.
ward to seeing a big crowd for
this dance.
The local Limns Club will
have their regulae dance in
the arena hall on Friday eve-
ning. This dance is tutting out
to be very a successful affair.

Anglican Church
Thanks to the mailthers of
the Altar Guild the Anglican
Church was beautifully decor-
ated for both services on Sun-
day, which were largely at-
tended, Flowers in the chan-
cel were in memory of the late
Mrs. Pearl Cobleigh. The ju-
nior choir sang at the morning
service and the senior choir at
the 11 p.m. carol and holy com-
munion service,

by the guest speaker, Hon. W.
A. Stewart, Minister of Agri-
culture,
Mr, Stewart spoke on the
importance of the man in agri-
culture today, combining -the
way of life with a sound busi-
ness -like manner. He mentioned
a number of industries, which
seem far removed from agri-
culture, to most people, which
in reality depended on the
farmer and his income. He also
said that the net income of
the farmer today is greater in
Ontario than in any other
province in Canada and has
shown a steady increase over
the last 10 years.
Lion IL F. Stanley introduced
the guest speaker and in thank-
ing him, Lion Don Banting, on
behalf of the club, presented
him with an honorary member -
shin certificate.
Plans for the New Year's
dance at the community cen-
tre, Dec. 29, were finalized.

CGIT, Explorers and their
leaders held their Christmas
party in the United church
schoolroom last Monday eve-
ning,
Christmas games preceded
the supper after which Santa
Claus appeared to hand out
the exchange of gifts.
Those present were then
divided into three groups to go
carol singing and to present
candy, treats and snow -trees
to shut-ins. One group went to
Clandeboye, one to the south
end and the last to the north
end of the village. At the Lu -
can Lodge they visited the six
patients so in all they visited
21 homes and 26 shut-ins,

Last Wednesday evening the
Sunday Schoel of the United
Church held its Christmas
party and concert with the
superintendent Cliff Culbert as
MC.
The program included read-
ings by Nancy Young, Donna
Walker, Joan Riley and Louise
Cochrane; a piano euniber by
Helen Sigsosorth, an accordion
number by Terry Thomas, a
junior choir number, "The
House that Jack Built" and a
nurnber of kindergarten songs.
These wee tots, who did ex-
ceptionally well and were se
cute, received a big hand of
applause as did the seven
junior boys in the last num-
ber who had the letters GOOD
BYE on their backs. Unfortu-
nately (or perchance fortunate-
ly l when they completed their
nutnber and turned round the
letters were backwards, EYE
DOOG and evoked peals of
laughter and more applause
than if correct.

The last minute Christmas
rush, didn't keep bingo cans
from last Thursday's bingo At
the Legion Hall for there was
a good crowd Out. Some play-
ers must have been glad they
went for they won several
times \011ie others to doubt re-
gretted the lost of time and
money.
Mrs. Tom Weller of Lucan
won the $5 consolation prize.
The line winners for "Share
the wealth were Mrs. Doug
Ewen (who also won the 5th
bingo), Larry Cooper, Barba-
ra Cooper (visitors wi•th their
grandmother Mrs. John Sint -
bort) Jim Rummell, Lucan and

Story of the Rells" with the
former's pupils in front of the
stage doing the choral reading
and the latter on the stage do-
ing the singing. Large deco-
rated paper bells with the
words "Good Cbeer," "Happi-
ness" "Humility," "Love" and
"Adore" were added to the al-
ready decorated tree on the
centre of the stage, as the cho-
ruses were sung,
The last play, staged by pu-
pils of Mr, Corsaut's and Prin-
cipal Jenkin's rooms, was en-
titled, "An Official Visit" and
depicted a school scene with
Marilyn Hearn" as teacher and
David Lippers, Briant Haskett
and Gary Traversey as mem-
bers oa the school board. The
pupils (true to form) embar-
rassed their teacher with the
answers they gave when ques-
tioned.
