Lee Learn, who skipped a
foursome to a win in the firs
draw of the Men's Curling race
leak year, has given indications
that he has no intention of re-
linouishing his trophy as he
moved into top spot this week.
The dairyman moved his
team out of second spot with a
humiliating 214 win over John
COthett, The Learn rink, corn -
,prised of Reg Hodgert, Lloyd
Snaith and Harry Greb, took
nine of the 10 ends from the
dentist.
, This gave the rink 15 points
and brought their four -game
total to 50.
Charlie Shane followed
Learn's example and moved
from third to second with. a 15-6
win_ over Bill Allison. This gave
his- rink a total of 47 points,
just three behind the leaders.
Last week's leader, Bev Mor-
gan, dropped a 10-7 decision to
Mac Hodgert for his first loss
of -the draw, but he still man-
aged'to pick up five points to
hold down third with 44.
No less than four teams are
tied for fourth spot as the draw
copes to a close, Bob Ellering-
ton, Claude Farrow, Dick Jer-
myn and Glenn Mickle all have
a chance to catch the leaders
as ;they each have 41 points.
Ken MacLaughlin and Cliff
Briptnell are one point back of
these squads with 40 points.
Besides Learn's big win, four
other teams managed to score
15 or more points against their
opposition in the popular ice
game. They were Glenn Mickle,
Rea Ottewell, Charlie Shane and 3
Charlie Smith, 4
ie r §ixth and seventh starts
in the South Middlesex Hockey
league action this week.
On Thursday, playing in Lu -
can, the local entry dropped a
close 2-1 decision to second
place Arva in a hard-fought
contest. Wally Webb notched
both goals for the winners,
while Terry Wade was the lone
Credlion marksman.
Glanworth pummelled Credi-
ton 9-1, Monday, at Ontario
Arena, London, to move into the
league leadership,
Terry Wade was again the
lone marksman for the Credi-
ton squad,
