Clinton by 11-10
•
Exeter Pee-Wees came up
with their fifth winof the sea-
son here Tuesday night when
they squeaked past Clinton- by
a score of 11-10.
The game was a real thriller
all the way with the local lads
clinching the verdict in the
last inning ona booming triple
by Brian McArthur that knock-
ed in the tying and winning
runs.
The Exeter crew managed.
to pick up only three safeties
during the contest but some
wild throwing by the Clinton
pitcher who gave up 11 walks
accounted for Exeter's 11 runs.
Bill Farquhar and Gordie
Greenacre were the other two
Exeter batsmen who collected
safeties with Farquhar's going
for two bases.
McArthur started on the
mound for Exeter but he was
relieved in the third inning by
Larry Willert when Clinton.
staged a nine -run uprising.
Willert finished the game in.
fine style by striking out six
menin the last three innings
to gain credit, for the win.
The local team had earlier
forged ahead in the contest by
plating eight runs in the sec-
ond inning. The visitors from
Clinton fought back strongly
and took a 10.9 lead going in-
to the fifth inning when Me -
Arthur delivered his- key hit
to drive in two runs arid give
Exeter the victory.
