HELP WANTED (Male)--.
MEAT CUTTER, experienced,

wiling to learn the trade. Ap-

— Continued from ,page 11
four months, It is gratifying to
have such strong support
from livestock producers and
is even more encouraging when
we consider that only a compa-
ratively small percentage of
the producers, as yet, have
been canvassed.
With something over 3,500
members, many counties now
have enough members to or-
ganize county committees and
, a basis for these is being drawn
up
While all this is encouraging,
we must not rest on our lau
rats. It is forecast that, by mid-
1962, the narketings of both
hogs and cattle will be con -
1 siderably higher. Thus it is
desirable that all possible con-
, petition be created in the mar-
ket place. With our objective
of $2 million in share capital
: accomplished by Nov. 30, we
could expect to have our
"Fame" plants in operation by
`late summer of 1962.
Variety of representation
In a poll of the members of
the board of directors it was
interesting to find that the
;main enterprise of nine was
I milk production, of seven was
!beef production and only two
whose main enterprise was
i hog production. The board was
iabout equally divided between
Ihogs and poultry for their sec-
: and farm enterprise with a
;few having all three. one mem-
ber had sheep raising as his
second enterprise.
Since their are so many beef
'producers and dairy men on
the boardit would indicate that
'there is a greater dissatisfac-
ition with the marketing of
cattle than the other live-
stock.
It was reported that a pro-
ducer shipped through a drover
'a few steers to Toronto (over
1100 miles). They sold for 38c
graded blue brand and dressed
151.8% on the Toronto live
weight. This returned less than
• 20e on the live Toronto weight.
;At the same time good steers
,were being quoted at $21.50 to
$23.50 in Toronto.
With producer -controlled and
owned processing plants farm-
ers at least could obtain ex-
planation for this apparent dis-
crepancy and do something
about it.

Fourteen -year-old Bill Snow, ltR 1 Woodham, won the Finish Champion-
ship in the Feeder Calf Club Show at Hensall Twilight Fair Friday night with
Purina -fed calf which won over 32 other steers. Bill's successful feed formula in.
eluded a mixture of corn, barley and oats, supplemented. with PURINA STEER PA•
TENA. Purina provides the proper balance for grain and roughage, keeps stock
eating and gaining' all the time. It puts on a prime finish, giving more pounds of
gain per pound of feed. Bill's championship steer is proof of PURINA's superiority.
