Mrs. G. Mantle
active in WMS
lttrs. George Mantle, resident
of Exeter for the past 55 years,
died at the Exeter Nursing
Home on Saturday, .March 4.
She was the former Eliza-
beth Ann Duncan of Usborne
Township and following her
marriage to George Mantle
they lived in Crediton a short
time moving to Exeter in 1906.
Mr, Mantle predeceased her in
1940. I
She was a member of James
Street United Church and a for-
mer president of the Woman's
Missionary Society.
Surviving are a number of
nieces and nephews and two
sisters-in-law.
The body rested at the Din-
ney funeral home, where a pri-
vate funeral service was held
On Monday, March 6 conducted
by Rev. S. E. Lewis with in-
terment in Exeter cemetery.
Pallbearers were Seth Winer,
Jack Hogarth, Calvert Cham-
bers, Wilson Morley, Jack
Duncan and Howard Ince.
A Farmer retired and moved
to town.
In the morning after spend-
ing the first night in the new
home, his wife said, "Well, Pa.
isn't it about time you were
getting up to build the .fire?”
"No, siree,” replied the old
gent. "J''ll call the fire depart-
ment. We might as well get
usedto these city conveniences
right now,”
