The Sailor forward picked up the puck in the car- - ner, and skated :unmolested in front of McCrea and flipped the puck between his legs to cut the lead to 6-4 at the end of the period. Exciting finish Don Beattie scored twice in the final period, in an effort to put the game on ice .for the Tribe, but each time the Sailors scored shortly after to nullify his attempt. Beattie's first goal was one of the best of the night. Tussy Dunham fed a pass to Beattie as he scooted up the left wing. However, the pass was a bit too heavy, and Beattie had to stretch out to touch the puck before it went over the red line. He then raced in and picked up the disc- inside the hlueline, and cut in sharply to blast the puck into the net. Ernie Hollingsworth got that one back ate tbe 8:37 mark of the frame, The speedy winger had his shot -partially blocked by Dick Bedard, but he man- aged to pick up the rebound, and fire it past McCrea. The Mohawks scored again at the 11:01 mark on a power- play, -set up by Loader and Gravett. The two point men exthanged passes at the blue - line before feeding the puck to Beattie who blasted a 25 -foot- er into the corner of the net. Loveday took exactly 40 sec- onds to pull the Sailors back to within two goals of the Tribe. His hard shot from the side appeared to go through McCrea's pads IMO the net behind him. The Sailors cut the lead. to one goal at the 15:42 mark of the peried, -when Pankhurst set up,.a Tribe defenseman for a screen, and rifled a blazer along the ice into the bottom corner before McCrea could Move, The Port Dover crew threat- ened to tie up the contest when they had a three -mane break on' 'McCrea with only 45 sec- ondelet. However, the Exeter goalie came tin with his best save of the nigfit, and managed to tip the shot up into the StandS, The visitors pulled their goalie with the laceofe itt the Exeter end, but the play back- fired when Larry Heideman picked its the pack and lifted a perfect shot all the way into the'open net at the other erid. Game Comments lack Me Lean, _Port Dover goalie, had the crowd buzzing with his spectacular play, The ramble tietinnider continually .flew nut ef his net to grab lose pucks, On one occasion he took a head -long dive and ended up ell the Ivey over hi the toted? f the arena to grab the disc . .
