Three win prizes
from merchants
On Saturday afternoon the Lu-
ean Business Me..'s first of four
draws was made. Three lucky
ticket holders won $10 vouchers,
Miss Donna Blake of Clandeboye,
Mr. C. A. Abbott, RR 1 Lucan
and Mr. Harold Coursey also of
RR 1. Lucan.
Mr. Fred Revington, president
of the Lucan Business Men's
Association, Mr. Ivan Hearn,
Lucan's new reeve, and Mr.
Gary 'McFalls, president of the
LUCAN, made the draws.
Granton boy
wins trophy
The 32nd annual Middlesex
county elementary school public
speaking contest, sponsored by
the Middlesex School Trustees
and Ratepayer's Association, was
held itt Mountsficld School, Lon-
don last Saturday.
Susan Florian, SS No. 2 lllosa,
won top honours, the gold medal,
and the first holder of the new
silver cup. Donnie Wallis of SS
No. 7 Biddulpli (Granton school)
was boy winner.
Among the other seven com-
petitors was Sharen Van Bussell
SS No. 6 Biddulph (Lucan Separ-
ate School) whose teacher is
Mrs. J. E. Conlin of Lucan. She
and. Bruce were Biddulph win-
ners.
Judges were Sam Munro, prin-
cipal of Victoria School, Don
Harris of the London Teachers'
College and Miss Madeline Hardy
of Alexandra School,
All competitors were presented
with books by the inspectors,
H. G. Schlotzhauer, H. A. Grif-
fith and W, G. McDonald:

If the crowd continues to grow
the Legion Hall will soon have
to be enlarged. Last Thursday
night all available chairs, bench-
es, boards and boxes would not
accommodate the crowd so the
stair steps had to be utilized,
However, in spite of the crowd
no one captured the $130 jack•
pot. it was a very much Lucan
night for a change, Mr. Wade
Zeigler of Lucan won the 517.50
"Share the Wealth"; Mrs, Vin-
cent Seifried of Lucan had be-
ginner's luck, winning the 55
consolation prize as well as an-
other bingo.
Mr, Cecil Van Horne of Lucan
won the first part of the con-
secutive bingo, Mrs. Harry Bond
of Lucan the second part and
Mrs, Harold Butler of Lucan
shared the third part with Mrs.
Ernie Lewis of Clandeboye,
Other Lucan winners were
Mrs. James Freeman, Mrs. Cecil.
Lewis, Miss Elizabeth Harrigan
who shared with Mrs, Dwight
Ball, Miss Lynette Walpole, Jerry
Kehl and. Mr. Russell. Thomp-
son, who shared with Mr. Roy
P'epper ,of Exeter. Mrs. Russell
Schroeder represented Centralia
and Mrs. H. Rawson, Granton.
The jackpot will again be 5130
in 58 calls for next Thursday.

The Rev, Father Mackery of
St. Patrick's Catholic Church of-
ficiated •at the baptism of Karen
Marie Charlotte Dupius, infant
daughter rof Mr. and Mrs. Maur-
ice Dupius of Lucan, last Sun-
day. Godparents were Mr. and
Mrs. Leo Dupuis of Petrolia.
Pee wees score
their third 'skunk'

Lucan arena is beginning to
have a slight odour about it, af-
ter Lucan Pee Wees skunked
Oakridge 'Acres, by a score of
3-0. This makes their 3rd shutout
out of four games.
Scorers for Lucan. were, Reg
Gibbons, With 2 goals and Bob
Hickson, a single. The game was
fought out cn Saturday.
In other action on. Saturday
was Oakridge . Acres Bantams
beating Lucan Bantams 6-4, and
Kensall Pack blanked Ailsa
Craig 1.0.
Personal items
Miss Dorothy Wildern, of St.
Catharines, was a weekend guest
of her aunt, Mrs. T. D, Orme.
Mr. and Mrs. M, 0, Smith at-
tended communion service at St.
Martin -in -the -field. Church, Oak-
ridge Acres Iast Sunday and later
had breakfast with the foriner's
brother, Mr. Rod. Smith who
has recently taken an apart-
ment in London. In the after-
noon Mr. and Mrs. Smith had
as guests Mr. and Mrs. George
Lackie and four children of
Waterloo.

tion was held in the church
schoolroom last Wednesday and
took the form of a dessert lunch-
eon whielh was catered to by
the members of the executive,

treasurer and various conveners
after which the nominating com-
mittee brought in the following

Mrs. Ron Westworth, the apron.
Donations for the doll shower
resulted in a beautiful ward-
rebe. Members were gii'en tick-
ets to sell. The draw will be
made at the Christmas party
Dec. 19.
The past president, Mrs.
Dwight Ball was presented with
the past presidents' pin and
badge by Mrs. Roy Stanley, now
of St. Thomas.
The installation of the new of-
ficers will be made at the Jan-
uary meeting.

Mrs, Wes Hodgins.
Francis Ellwood
once tailor here
Francis Charles Ellwood, .37,
passed away at his late resi-
dence in Sarnia on. Tuesday,
December 1. He lay at rest in
the Murdy funeral home, Lucan,
until 2 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 3
when the Rev. J. P Prest con-
ducted funeral services, Inter-
ment was in Clandeboye ceme-
tery.
The pallbearers were Cecil
Ellwood, Don Bunting, Billie
Fenton, John McIntosh, Duncan
Ross and D. McDonough,
He is survived by his wife, the
former Lillie Bawden, and one
son Harry.
Mr. Ellwood lived for a num-
ber of years on the corner of
Main and Water St., Lucan
where he had a tailoring busi-
ness. About 43 years ago he
moved to Sarnia where he was
a postal. employee for over 40
years. He retired from business
20 years ago,
25th wedding anniversary
Mr'. and. Mrs. William Mcll-
hargey, 'Lucan, celebrated their
25th wedding anniVersary, Sat-
urday, November 28, with a High
Mass of Thanksgiving in St.
Patrick's Church, Biddulph. The
Rev. Father J. A. Mackesy of-
ficiated. This was followed, the
next day, by a family dinner at
their home.
The couple have four children:
Mrs. John .Keogh ('Mary) of
Ailsa Craig, Helen, a teacher of
Separate School Section, Dela-
ware, Kathleen, a student at the
London Teachers' College, ,and
Joseph, at home.
