Strats clinch
Perthex title
It's all over but the shouting
in the Senicr Perthex Conference
Football League,
Stratford Collegiate Ramblers
separated the men from the boys
in their "crucial" Friday night
contest against Listowel Blues
for first place in the senior loop
standings. Unless something
drastically happens in the re-
maining two games, such as
South Huron beating Stratford
while Listowel thumps Mitchell,
the Ramblers should have their
second straight Perthex title all
wrapped up.
The Strats boast a very im-
pressive record to date and are
certainly worthy of the league's
choice spot. In five games, the
Ramblers have only allowed op-
posing clubs to score nine points
while they have cashed in for
92. With four wins and a tie,
Stratford holds a twoq)oint edge
over Listowel Blues who took
a 20-0 pasting at National Sta-
dium in Stratford on Friday.
Mitchell Blue Devils, who up-
set South Huron 15-0 and 7-6 in
their two engagements, will fin-
ish third no matter what hap-
pens Wednesday (Oct. 21) as
.the schedule ends, The big upset
must conte in Exeter Wednes-
day if Listowel hopes to gain a
playoff tie .for the group honors.
Having rough time
Main reason for four straight
losses is that many of the local
players are green to the league
and that several of the "key"
players on the club have been
injured. This has been more or
less a year of experience. for
the local lads. It would be good
to see the Panthers put a .thorn
in the side of the Ramblers hero
on Wednesday but it is highly
unlikely. Stratford has plenty of
depth and can field plenty of
veterans in the way of second
and third year men.

Coach Jim "Red" Loader of
the Exeter Mohawk Hockey
Club has scheduled a practise
for the Exeter Arena this Friday
night at 8:00 p.m,
Arena Manager Alvin Willett
feels that the ice will be ready
by Friday as he turned on the
machine last Monday,
Loader is anxious to get his
tryouts on the ice and round
then into shape. Anyone wish-
ing to try out is welcomed to
participate in the practises.
Finally, the'59-'60 executive is
working overtime to try to clear

the present club going. Response
for donations has been very
pleasing to executive canvasser's
and if it continues last year's
debt will undoubtedly wiped off.
