Two deer appearing to be quite
at home came very near the
barn on the Elston farm'Monday
morning. Evidently they enjoyed
the green wheat. Several flocks
of wild geese have been flying
around. One large flock lit in a
corn field nearby.

boys of Elkerton, Mich., visited
last Sunday with Mr. and Mrs.
John McAllister and boys.

Mrs. Frances Brooke, wife of
the chaplain to the Quebec gar-
rison from 1760 to 1768. Her
four -volume novel on life in
Quebec was published about 30'
years before the first American
novel. ,

tion in Ontario, will. be guest
speaker at the ceremony mark-
ing the completion of McGil-
livray township school at West
McGillivray,
Children are already enjoying
the benefits of the spanking new,
glass -encased structure in which,
classes began at the first of
September.
Each of the eight bright class-
rooms features a full wall of
glass, modern lighting, ward-
robes and closets, Movable par-
titions between two classrooms
and a raised teachers' room
make it possible to transform
one area into a large auditorium
with .stage. Opening ceremonies
will take place in this portion of
the building.
Construction features of the
school include an oil -fired hot
water heating system, laminated
wood beams, acoustic ceilings
and vinyl floors.
The new building, jusesouth of
West McGillivray corner, meas-
ures 120 feet along the front and
is 60 feet deep. It has a 20 -foot
"L" on the north side and a
24 -foot canape at the south end.
Principal and head of a staff
of eight is 'Mrs. }Murray Hamil-
ton, McGillivray.
Chairman of the board is Ken-
neth Sholdice and David Henry
is secretary.
General contractor for the
building was Douglas Passmore,
Sarnia. Architects were Black-
well and Hagerty,��yyLondon.

aldson. The hostess prize was
won by Mrs, E. Lewis.

Neil of Exeter attended the
funeral in London of an aunt,
Mrs. Maggie May, widow of the
late Mr. Arthur Adams of Fort
MacLeod, Alberta.
She is survived by two sons,
Rea Adams of London and J.
D. Adams of Birmingham, Mich.
She is the last surviving mem-
ber of the family of the late
Mr. and Mrs. Burleigh Wells of
Byron. Her father was a former
pioneer bridge builder.
Funeral service was at the
Evans funeral .home, London on
Monday, Oct. 19 with the pastor
of Wesley United Church, the
Rev. J. W. Stinson officiating.
Interment took place in the fam-
ily plot at St. Anne's cemetery,
Byron.
