May 28 1959 RECEIVE ROYAL LIFE SAVING SOCIETY AWARDS—Ten of these 12 youths from Huron Park, RCAF Centralia, have received bronze medallion awards from the Royal Life Saving Society for having passed qualifications re- quired to be a lifeguard. Two others, who are under age limit for the medallion, received intermediate certifi- cates. With them is F,`L William. Deane, an examiner for the society and a supervisor for Red Cross Water Safety Services, one of only 10 in the RCAF who qualifies for I'this position. He examined the group above who received instruction from F/0 J. Marshall-Gratrix and Flight Cadet i Robert ,Jackson. Several of the boys will serve as life• guards for the playground this summer. ARTHUR RUNDLE May 24 supper The annual May 24 supper was held last Wednesday evening in the Orange Hall with a good crowd in attendance. The program consisted of a play entitled "Sunbonnet Jane from Sycamore Lane" sponsored by the YPU and directed by the president, Jim McNaughton, as- sisted by Miss Jean Copeland and Mrs. A. Dewar. WMS anniversary The sixtieth anniversary of the Woman's Missionary Society will be held Wednesday, June 3 at 2 p.m, in the Woodham church when all former members of the WMS as well as all ladies of the church will be entertained. Funeral service Funeral services were held in the Marriott funeral home on Saturday afternoon at two o'clock for the late Bert A. Rundle of Woodham who died on Wednes- day, May 20 at the home of his son, William Rundle, Woodham. The Rev. J. Wareham had charge of the service and inter- ment was in the Kirkton Union cemetery. Pallbearers were Ted McIntosh, Rundle Stewart, .Bert Stacey, Bryce Skinner, Jack Simmons and Harry Webber. In the four districts of On- tario's northwest—Patricia, Ken - ora, Rainy River and Thunder Bay the population averages one person per square mile. Flower bearers were Hiram Hannah, Oscar Brine, William McIntosh, Dave Shamblaw, Her- man Paynter, Norris Webb and Clarence Mills.
