Wednesday the home was decorated for Valentines Day. Lottie McCutcheon with her grand­ daughter Judy Hahn went out to J.R.’s for lunch. Mr. and Mrs. Carman Farrier, Miss Winnifred Farrier, Mrs. Joel Hawley and baby Kendra from Long Branch visited with Dorothy Higgins Thursday evening then along with Dorothy all visited at the home of Mr. and Mrs. Tom Pletch. Friday morning Ann Smith played the piano in the morning. Karen Cardiff and Jeannette Boyn­ ton led the discussion group in the afternoon. Many residents were seen eating licorice pipes during the discussion. Brussels Menno- nites held their monthly service. Friday evening with Rev. Zehr conducting the sermon about “Encouragement’’. There was a nice programme of Michelle Free­ man doing a reading, two duets by Nancy Hynonen and Ann Hemm­ ingway, and Alex McLeod read the scripture. Lori Cronin visited with her great aunt Dorothy Higgins also Friday evening. Ethel Fischer would like to say “Hi’’ to her daughter Maxine who reads The Citizen in Regina, Saskatchewan. Jack Hamilton is home from Wingham Hospital. Eva Stewart Teacher-pupil rai The pupil-teacher ratio was the main topic of discussion at the meetingof the Grey, Bruce, Huron Council of Home and School Associations. Tania Gilchrist, Past President of the council reported on her meeting with the Bruce Board of Education over reports of over­ crowded classrooms in some ele­ mentary schools. As a result of this the method of determining the pupil-teacher ratio in both Huron and Bruce counties will be studied. Plans were made for the annual remains in University Hospital but we hear she is doing well and hope she soon will be back to Callander. io studied banquet which will be held in Underwood and a workshop for Home and School executives will be held in May in Teeswater. A letter to each principal in Huron and Bruce counties has been sent out and it explains the purpose of the Home and School Association and how to form a group. Jane McDonald and Tom Hanrahan of the Brussels school and Robin Dunbar of Grey Central School attended the meeting which was held at Madill Secondary School on January 30.
