Blyth Novice team gets back on track with win
BY RUSTY BLADES
Wednesday, November 20 saw
another victory for the Blyth novice
squad as Huron Park came to town
but returned home with a 6 - 2
defeat.
On Sunday, November 24, Bain-
tons edged Watsons by a score of 6
S in Blyth Industrial Hockey
League action.
Barney Stewart and Gary Hak-
kers led Baintons with 2 goals each,
while Terry Rutledge and Tom
Perry each added one. Dave
Errington led Watsons with three
Blyth started quickly and ended
the first period with a 3 - 0 lead.
James McNichol opened the scor-
ing as he redirected a Jonathan
Collins pass into the net. Before
long Mike Bromley netted an
goals, Steve Bromley added one
and McDowell also had one.
In the second game Mannings
outscored Hubbards by a score of
11 to 4. Number 15 for Mannings
led them with six goals. Bill
McDougall and Tom Black added
two each and Wayne McDougall
added one. Scoring for Hubbards
unassisted goal to put the home
team up by 2 - 0. Then, with 34
seconds left in the period, Henry
Bos scored from a wild scramble in
front of the net. When the ice chips
had settled, Mike Bromley and
Benji Hakkers each had well-
were Brian Bromley, Jerry Hakk-
ers, Brad Bromley and Brent
Andrews each with one.
In the third game Radfords beat
Blyth Inn 5 - 3. Darryl Youngblut
led Radfords with four goals and
number 16 added one. Scoring for

deserved assists.
Huron Park finally got on the
scoreboard in the second period
but their joy was short lived as only
11 seconds elapsed before Henry
"The Scoring Machine" Bos,
assisted by Mike Bromley, scored
his second goal of the evening to
regain Blyth's three goal lead.
Before the second period ended,
Peter Craig fed a slick goalmouth
pass to Jonathan Collins who
quickly converted it into a 5 - 1 lead.
The teams traded goals in the
third period as Mike Bromley fed
another great pass out in front of
the Huron Park goal and Chris-
topher Howson was positioned
perfectly to score the final goal of
the game.
Teamwork and unselfish pass-
ing was the name of the game and it
looks as if the dedicated coaching
staff has this energetic young team
headed in the right direction. It
seems it is becoming tradition in
the dressing room after a winning
game for a member of the coaching
staff to provide victory pop for the
team. The moths could be seen
flying from Coach Howson's wallet
as he carried this tradition on.
Coach Bromley's turn is next!!
Next game is Wednesday, Nov-
ember 27 at 7 o'clock in Blyth
against Milverton. The team is
entered in a tournament this
coming weekend in Seaforth. First
game for Blyth is Friday night at 6
o'clock against Mitchell.
