People around Auburn
The Auburn Women's Institute
meeting was held in Community
Hall Tuesday, November 19.
The meeting opened with Ode,
Mary Stewart Collect and 0
Canada with Marjorie McDougall
as pianist.
The topic was Citizenship and
World Affairs led by Mrs. Tom
Jardin and Tina Empey.
The president Mrs. Leonard
Archambault welcomed everyone
and read a poem "Smile". Min-
utes of last meeting were read by
Mrs. Robert Peck and the treasur-
er's report was given. It was
decided to send $25 to the
Homebound in Clinton and the
same to Children's Hospital in
London.
Mrs. Archambault read the
report on the convention at London
which she attended. Mrs. Tom
Unit II of United Church Women
met on Wednesday, November 13,
in the basement of Knox United
Church.
Mrs. Joyce Bean, Mrs. Gail
Dobie and Mrs. Anne Vincent were
in charge of the meeting and chose
as their theme, "War and Peace".
A lively discussion followed. Sev-
eral readings given on the topic
with everyone giving their views.
The general meeting will be held
November 27 at 2 p.m. in the
W. Wawanosh

In its efforts to provide service to
the wide area of north Huron it
covers, The Citizen is seeking
correspondents to cover all the
communities of the area.
One of the areas not properly
covered is the Donnybrook-St.
Augustine area. If anyone in the
area is interested in being the
correspondent for that area please

Jardin introduced the guest speak-
ers, Mrs. Lorne Snell of Clinton
who gave an interesting talk of her
life in Labrador City. Mrs. Ethel
Ball also showed slides of her trip to
the Dominican Republic. Tina
Empey thanked both ladies.
Mrs. Don Haines presented Life
memberships to Mrs. Viola Raith-
by and Mrs. Leonard Archambault
and thanked them for their years of
services in the Women's Institute.
The card report was given by
Lillian Lelatherland. Roll call
showed 19 members present and
two visitors. The Christmas meet-
ing will be held at the home of Mrs.
Don Haines (not at Hall as previous
planned) with Pot Luck Lunch at 1
p.m., December 17.
Lunch was served by the hos-
tesses Mrs. Elliott Lapp, Mrs.
Charlie Merrill and Mrs. Catherine
Jackson and a social time followed.

at the weekly euchre party which
was held Tuesday evening, Nov-

The choir sang, "The Lord Is My
Shepherd" with Mrs. Barry Mil-
lian as pianist.
Junior congregation was under

Young. The minister Gary T.
Shuttleworth chose for his sermon,
"Resurrection and the End of
Time".
The Offering was received by
Peter Verbeek and Bill Seers. Next
Mr. and Mrs. Orval McPhee
spent a few days last week visiting
Mr. and Mrs. Allan Tanner of
Kitchener.
Several members of Auburn
Women's Institute and other
ladies of the community enjoyed a
bus trip to Kitchener on Thursday
to see the musical "Carousel" held
in the Centre in the Square. Those
attending were Bernice Anderson,
Beth Lansing, Viola Raithby,
Laura Mae Chamney, Dorothy
Bennett, June Peck, Marjorie
McDougall, Lois Haines, Evelyn
Merrill, Marion Haggitt, Beryl
Booster Club
announces
prize winner
The Booster Club would like to
thank the Community for their
support at their bake sale and
bazaar. The winner of the door
prize of a Ceramic Christmas Tree
was Mrs. Jim Lawlor of RR 5,
Goderich. Half of the Booster Club
proceeds go to the Huron County
Family and Children's Services
Christmas Fund and half to their
own community project.
Lapp volunteered to help entertain
the children at the home for
Battered Women. The meeting
adjourned and a social time was
enjoyed by all.

Euchre parties are held every
Tuesday evening at the Com-
munity Hall at 8 p.m. Everyone
welcome.
Sunday, December 1 will be White
Gift Service with everyone to bring
gifts, wrapped in white paper or
gifts of money in a white envelope.
These will be given to The Family
and Children's Services.
Seniors plan
potluck lunch
There will be a Seniors Pot Luck
Dinner at the Community Hall
Wednesday,-December 4 at 12
noon. Everyone that is a senior
citizen are welcome.

Mr. and Mrs. Tom Lawlor, Mr.
and Mrs. Lloyd McLarty visited on
Wednesday with Mr. and Mrs.
Frank McLarty of Bradford, On-
tario.
Mr. and Mrs. Bert Allen of
Agincourt visited on the weekend
with Mrs. Beth Lansing.
Mr. Harold Baechler is a patient
in St. Joseph's Hospital following
eye surgery on Friday. He is
wished a speedy recovery.
