Brussels Horticultural Society to plant flowers at dam

are pleased to be able to share our
news with all your readers.
We first would like to welcome
our two new ladies Mrs. Marion
Letherland and. Miss Dorothy
Higgins to our home.
Sunday, Nov. 17 our weekly
church service was conducted by
Rev. Lamble from the Walton
United Church.
Bingo was played Monday after-
noon with Bill Close holding the
monthly trophy.
Mr. and Mrs. Purdy from the
Salvation Army paid their weekly
visit in the evening.
Tuesday the Blyth singers sang
their hymns and visited with our
residents.
Wednesday evening Fred
Thuell, Howard Smith and Donald
Dunbar entertained with their
lively Old Time Music.
Ann Smith played hymns Thurs-
day morning and Gord Harrison's
Band from Goderich played and
sang all our favourites new and old
in the afternoon.
Friday, Nov. 22 we celebrated
Mrs. Lillian Cox's 87th birthday
with a cake brought in by her
daughter and son-in-law Joe and
Helen Poirier. Our discussion
group led by volunteers Karen
Cardiff and Jeannette Boynton

was moved by Miss Luella Mitchell
and seconded by Mrs. Evelyn Mair
that the bill for $244 presented by
the Maitland Valley Conservation
Authority be paid. In the spring the
new flower beds at the dam will be

The Brussels Lions Club has
announced the first two winners in
the new "trip of the month draw".
Early bird winner of a weekend
in Toronto, drawn in October, was
Bruce Hahn of Brussels. Winner of
the first regular draw in November
was M. J. Hoyles of Listowel.
Next draw is to take place in
mid-December. Lion members still
have some tickets left at $10 per
month so don't let another draw go

On November 18, Brussels and
District Horticultural Society
members and their guests enjoyed
a bountiful pot luck supper in the
Brussels library.
The meeting was chaired by the
president, Mrs. Alice McArter.
