Remembrance observed The Burns U.C.W. was held at the Church on Wednesday after- noon with 22 present. The meeting opened with a hymn. Amelia Rice read the Scripture Luke 24 followed by prayer. Beth Knox gave a reading "Problems". Margaret Anderson introduced special guest Ruth Shaddick who showed slides, and gave an interesting talk on her trip to Greece and Turkey. Trudy Pollard thanked Ruth, and pre- sented her with a gift. Amelia Rice conducted the business. Roll call was answered with a Bible verse, and minutes of the last meeting were read. The Mr. John Bromley of Huronview a life long resident of Londesboro prior to Huronview died on Tues., Nov. 5 in his 90th year in Clinton Hospital. Mr. John Armstrong was admit- ted to Seaforth Community Hospi- tal on Tuesday, November 5. We wish him a speedy recovery. Visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Bill Sottieux and Jennifer this past week was daughter Linda. Mrs. Dave Constantine and Katherine of Calgary visited on Sunday with Dave's mother Mrs. Audrey Constantine and his sisters Elizabeth of Toronto and Angella of Chateauguay. Friday luncheon guests with Beth Knox were Dorothy Brintell and Pearl Shaddick of Hensall, Elsie Shaddick, Margaret Taylor and Dora Shobbrook. On Saturday, Nov. 9, Mr. and Mrs. Frank Johnston held a dinner treasurer's report was given by Margaret Taylor. An invitation was received to attend the Londes- boro W.I. on Wednesday, Novem- ber 13 at 7:30 p.m. The 4 H Club will have a bake sale, and guest speaker Catherine McKnightof Clinton will speak on her teaching experiences in Korea. Several relations and friends of Mrs. Laura Saundercock called to wish best wishes on her 91st birthday on Sunday, November 10 at Huronview. Olive Penfound and Elgin visit- ed on Wednesday evening with her sister Mary Mair in Stratford. Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Jackson and Sandra of Ridgetown visited on the weekend with her parents Mr. and Mrs. Tom Allen. A Remembrance Day service was held at 11 a.m. on Monday at Londesboro United Church. The pupils and teachers of Hullett Central School paraded to church. Opening music on the organ was by Barbara Bosman. The service opened with 0 Canada and the Lord's prayer. Master of Ceremonies was Kathy Kennedy. The honor roll of men who served from Hullett Township was read by Michael Presczator. A poem "Honoured son" was read by Elizabeth Brandon and the scrip- ture, Psalm 46, by Kevin Gerrits. The poem in Flanders Field was recited by 14 Grade 8 pupils. The history of the poem "In Flanders Fields" was given by Anita Gross. The story of Cherami was read by Darlene Buffinga. The reason for the two minute silence was ex- plained by Doug Reid. The last post and Reveille were performed by Kevin Gerrits, Teddy Vanderlei and Richard Bergsma. Scripture United Church news Greeting worshippers on Sun- day morning was Dora Shobbrook.
